Thank you for this lovely video! I started making jewellery as part of a small business 2 years ago, and found the process very enlightening and fun! Although I have a full time job in a hospital now, your video has inspired me to sit down and create jewellery again for fun.

It is very therapeutic! I compound fractured 7 vertebrae and fractured a rib. I don't know what I would have done without jewelry making. I was chair bound for almost 2 years. It kept me sane! And thanks to Firemountain loading me up with all kinds of goodies, jewels and tools and wire, I started my new jewelry business. It's all good now!

Sorry but I think too many people are trying to make jewelry and it’s hurting small businesses everywhere. I know how that sounds so before you get upset reading my comment, I’m just being honest. It’s hurting my business, big time.

So who shouldn’t make jewelry?

So because you have a business others can’t try their hand at it? That’s how business works - otherwise it’s a monopoly. Maybe it’s time to change up/adjust your brand.

@@marjoriecook7556 Most people don’t know what they’re doing and I don’t need to change anything. I never said I wasn’t selling anything. But if you made jewelry and had a business then maybe you would understand. I’m not the only one who feels this way but I’m the only one who is saying anything. Again I was just being honest and you would have known that if you had read my entire comment.

Unfortunately it’s really common for people to seriously undervalue their handcrafts for the first year or so, and sell them for often only the base cost of the components - sometimes not even that - which then feeds into many buyers undervaluing the time, skill, and effort it takes to create pieces. Especially with original designs. It’s a very fair thing for professional jewellery designers to complain about. If you’re going to sell your work please remember to charge for your time! It’s OK to start off at a low hourly rate whilst you’re learning the basic skills, but raise your rates as you expand your skill set.
