Explore Barbuda with Us! | A Day Trip from Antigua on the Barbuda Express
Hello everyone! It’s a stunning day here in beautiful Jolly Harbour, Antigua, and we’re off on an adventure to Barbuda aboard the Barbuda Express. 🌞🚤 Barbuda is about 30 miles north of Antigua, and in just an hour and a half, we'll be exploring all the island has to offer.
What’s on Our Itinerary?
- Frigate Bird Sanctuary: First up, we’re visiting the famous Frigate Bird Sanctuary. Our captain, Pat, will guide us around this incredible natural wonder.
- Pink Sand Beach: Next, we’ll visit the iconic Pink Sand Beach, known for its unique pink-hued sand made from crushed shells.
- Two Foot Bay Caves: After lunch, we’ll head to the caves at Two Foot Bay, offering stunning views and an adventure through narrow passages.
- Lobster Lunch: We’re excited for an amazing lobster lunch right on the beach, with vegetarian and fish options available too!
- Beach Time: We’ll wrap up our day with some swimming and relaxation on Barbuda’s expansive, deserted beaches.
The Journey Begins:
Thanks to the twin hulls of the Barbuda Express, our ride was smooth and comfortable. After arriving in Barbuda, we took a short bus ride across the island to meet our adventure tour guide.
Frigate Bird Sanctuary:
A boat trip across the lagoon brought us to the heart of the Frigate Bird Sanctuary. The sheer number of birds was astounding, and we got incredibly close to them!
Pink Sand Beach:
After the sanctuary, we arrived at Pink Sand Beach. The sand’s unique color comes from tiny crushed shells, and the beach’s beauty is breathtaking.
Two Foot Bay Caves:
Next, we headed to Two Foot Bay. After a delicious lunch (lobster for me!), we explored the caves, climbing to the top for spectacular views of Barbuda’s flat, low-lying landscape.
Relaxing on the Beach:
We then enjoyed some downtime on one of Barbuda’s longest beaches. The clear, turquoise waters and endless white sand made for a perfect afternoon.
Sunset Cruise Back to Antigua:
As the day came to an end, we hopped back on the Barbuda Express for a sunset cruise back to Antigua. The calm seas and beautiful sunset were the perfect ending to a fantastic day.
