I lived in Chiang Mai for a few years. I loved the place. You should have ventured along the river. There's some nice riverside restaurants and galleries and also a local market that sells really nice fabric.

I was actually in Chiang Mai yesterday. I hired a bicycle and cycled around which was fun. There are also some cool restaurants and cafes next to the river. Enjoy!

Depending on which time of the year, Chiangmai’s air can very polluted from the burning that the farmers do every year to get ready for the new planting season. Teresa Tseng, the famous Taiwanese singer, died while in Chiangmai. She had a history of bad allergies. I suspected that the allergy and the bad air quality at the time and the medication that she was talking all contributed to it.
