There might be a chill in the air, but winter is a great time to experience the sights, sounds and scents that are around at this time of year. From the bright bark of the trees in the arboretum, to the beauty of winter flowering plants and the aromas of scented shrubs, there’s so much nature to enjoy at Dyffryn Gardens in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales - even when the weather is cold.
If you’ve not visited Dyffryn Gardens during winter and you want to see what the gardens are like, join Head Gardener Chris Flynn in this video as he takes you on a behind-the-scenes tour. You’ll explore the arboretum and the Great Lawns along with some of Chris’s favourite places. You’ll also learn about the history of the gardens, which plants do well and more about the restorations that are taking place across this Edwardian garden.
These Grade I-listed gardens were commissioned by horticulturalist and owner Reginald Cory and designed by Edwardian garden designer Thomas Mawson in 1906. Together they worked to create the gardens, which follow the theme of experimentation.
