Mike works REALLY hard to get his survivor dead, in this follow-up to scenario 1.

I noticed after watching the first scenario and a short section of this scenario checking what you were doing against the rules and found out you were playing the spawning of the monsters incorrectly. According to the rules, when spawning monsters, you spawn them face down unless spawned in your space. It is when you move into a space with a monster or a monster moves into your space it is revealed.

Correct! Another viewer mentioned this too. Unfortunately I had already recorded both scenarios before I found out the mistake

25:01 The token cannot retreat off the map, onto an unexplored map tile, or into a survivor’s space. If this would happen, the combatant chooses a space that is adjacent to his or her space and does not contain another survivor; the enemy’s token is moved to that space.

It's funny, it looks like the variability between boxes is much higher than variability within a box. To the point where it doesn't matter if every box is unique, since you'll likely only play one or two boxes! Really, each playthrough looks like it ends up as "Which landmark will I happen across this time?"

I’m hoping scenarios 3 and 4 will be highly different. They already have very different placement (you start on one side of the map).

I just ordered after watching the first playthrough. I'm concerned as well as the replay value but absolutely love the concept of the game. I know many will not but that's the great thing about board gaming. I'm thinking if replay value is limited it will most likely encourage trading since every box is unique. Another interesting dynamic to a game like this if that occurs. Thanks for your videos!

If I can find a local player to trade with, I’d love to dig into another box after I finish mine.

@@OneStopCoopShop That is actually a really nifty idea! A "Discover Trade Group" where owners of their copy exchange copies with others! Awesome!

"We'll leave it there for now"? WE'LL LEAVE IT THERE FOR NOW?!?! Aaaaaaaaaaah, you're killing me, Mike! I need answers! I need to know NOW what happens to poor granny Gertrude! Sheesh... Seriously though...good game. ^_^

I think she was “purged” by the government. Gonna pick a new character for future plays

Not sure how to make a request, but after this I’d love to see a solo playthrough of Arkham Horror 3rd Edition. Since you love the card game, I think you’ll love the board game too! :) In regards to this, I’m not sure how much scenario 2 feels from scenario 1, but the badlands scenarios feel very different from the valley scenarios to me, so that’s good at least.

The scenario seems quite different with the more combat focus, although the airplane (almost) always giving you the same resolution seems like it would limit replay. At the same time, I'm curious to see what happens if you have that book and explore the airplane.

Man, replay is the MAIN thing I am figuring out before I review this. Some things about it are highly replayable, others not so much. It’s the most conflicted game I’ve played in a while. But still fun

@@OneStopCoopShop (sorry to hound you like that survivalist) I love that this game is so controversial that people don't know WHAT to think. I thought I was done with 'replayability' as a selling point with all the games appearing every week so everyone could literally play a new game every day and never run out of games. I thought I was only gonna 'replay' games that were scenario-driven, but then Discover comes along - so simple, so elegant, so tense and punishing - I want to replay it over and over again (and then, like you said, trade it with someone else's copy)

Nice playthrough. Yes, when getting a game with Scenario 1 and 2 on the same board, it might feel a bit low on value. I have seem copies where it is scenario 1 and 3 instead. With this being said, this is not the type of game one plays over and over if one seeks maximum variation in each game. One should actually play another game, or two, between sessions - that way the content feels much fresher. I like this game, but would it have killed them to give us a few more maptiles? (Yes I know...it would actually break the game :) )

Agreed! More content would have been appreciated

I’m not sure how I feel about this game. I like the theme I like the plot I like the systems but it all seems so short. You suddenly win out of no where. It feels like it need twice as many stages. And there does seem to be a shortage of replayability .

I guess you could say that you're...DISCOVERing new ways a game can make you feel? (ba-dum-dum)

Another one of FFG unfinished product cash cows! 0 replayability, bad, outdated mechanisms and, the worst offender of them all: they're squandering Corey's talents on this! I hope he leaves with Christian Petersen and returns to his phenomenal designs: Starcarft, Gears of War, Space Hulk: Death Angel etc. The only thing that's good about this game is Mike's playthrough :-P Keep up the good work!
