Your brother needs anything that makes his heart jump of joy, makes his eyes sparkle and feeds his soul. So good luck with finding something that fits you. Your current Strom needs some TLC. But might deserve some rest as well after making so many memories❤

Gary’s got make the right choice for himself based on the type of riding he wants to do… based on what has been on video though, I’d say he rides in the V-strom’s sweet spot, adventure touring, with light off road…. The 2025 DL650 looks very interesting.

Hi Amanda and Gary thank you for your work, It is our Saturday morning ritual to have coffee eggs and your video's. I was pondering Garys new bike choices, as he has the OG V-strom 650, would he consider the new OG V-strom 800? Some symmetry there.

Good stuff! Seemed like a solid trip. If he wants to upgrade and not fix or renew parts on his bike a newer V-Strom will do the job just fine. Else of course an Africa Twin/Transalp and any other manufacturers motorcycle classed for ADV.
@josmith4531Ай бұрын
I ride a DR650 for trips with a lot of dirt/gravel, and a DL1000 for a lot of highway with some gravel. I like the DR for it's pick up weight, but if I could only have one I think it would be between the DR or DL800

Ohhhhh boy, it sounds like it may really happen- Gary getting a new bike. I’m excited for him. I don’t have any recommendations because I’m certain he has a better idea of what suits him than I do. Does the cooling vest work well under your jacket? I have a lot of respect for you riding in virtually all weather conditions.
@pippacarron1861Ай бұрын
Bike options for your brother: the Africa Twin you ride would come close to top of my list, plus the V-Strom he already rides would be up there too. But I'd say he should try some model of BMW GS. If not a 1250, then an F850. I have an F750 GS and totlaly love it.

Nice! Looking forward to RMR10 already! Time flies! Brother should get the bike he can grown on the most but adventure on today. Only he can know which that is. I like big bikes and I cannot lie… But the prior advice stands.
@josephbowers3381Ай бұрын
Hey Guys, thanks for sharing. You both do very well in narrating your adventures. The trips you guys take together prove my theory of taking the roads less traveled is well worth the effort. I understand Gary's attachment to the Vstrom. I have a 2012 Vstrom DL650ABS. Our 2 wheeled machines become part of us. (I can hear Amanda saying, yep 1000% true.) Those that have never taken the plung into back country motorcycle adventures will never understand our addiction to our machines and the call of the roads less traveled.
@JukraАй бұрын
For reliability and economy i would go for the v-strom 650. For more power i would consider the 750 transalp. From there its just the question how much your brother is willing to spend for power and gadgets. There are lots of fantastic options out there. Africa twin or ktm 890 are great bikes when it comes to performance
@lesterroberts4787Ай бұрын
great vedio, Gary , Vstrom 800. I roll a '22 KLR abs and a 24 Yamaha Tenere 700 and I love them both and would take them anywhere but, Gary looks like a Suki Man.

Beautiful country backroads, you are very fortunate to have bikes to ride those. I think I mentioned it before, wife and I were out there end of July first part of Aug. yes it was extreme heat. I ride Goldwing so I can not give any advice on adv style bikes. Although I ran into youtuber Living off the Slab guy in Wall SD, He was on his way home from Alaska on a Triumph Tiger I believe. Good things to say about it. Check out his video about this trip review.

I have ridden Honda's for over 40 years. I have never had one not get me home. Flat tires and dead batteries the only thing that has gone wrong. I'm sure there are others with the same story for Suzuki. But I'm a Honda boy.

You can do research with brother to find the best bike. Honda seems to make bulletproof bikes but I am partial to Triumph but I am too old to go offroad and risk hurting myself so I stay on the slab.

So much good stuff in the vid but that's normal. Yes, Gary should get a new bike. It would be a shame for something to happen while the two of you are on your AK that would change the trip for the negative. I'm a Honda fan because of the dependability so I think Gary should get either a Transalp or an Africa Twin. Here's a question for you: When you put your cooling vest on when it's 90+ out do people give you the look like you are a strange person since they have no idea it is? I usually don't put mine on until it gets to the upper 80s and I get those looks. OK, time for me to go register for RMR and OnX and stop procrastinating with both of them. Keep the good stuff coming.

I love the Continental TKC70 (standard and rocks versions) when I can get them. They're a bit pricier than the Shinkos but I get WAY more miles out of them. I've used the Shinkos quite a bit as well. I also had a good time with the Motoz Tractionator GPS as well.

As far as equipment goes, having the same bikes would allow a few common small/interchangeable parts and tooling to be carried as well as swapping parts to troubleshoot issues along the way with weighing down either (insert equipment being used here) unduly. Extreme destination exert extreme wear.......just sayin.
