Réunion is not an overseas territory of France but an Overseas region of France and the EU, same as Normandy for example. It's like what Alaska or Hawaii are to the contiguous US. And, because France is more centralized than the US, Réunion is more integrated to the French republic than a US state. French Polynesia, on the other hand, is an overseas territory of France, it has more autonomy and even a local parliament in charge of some local laws. Like Wales or Scotland within the UK.

@@vivekvicky2595 There was nobody on Reunion Island at first so the French send French ppl on it, saw how good the island can be for agriculture like sugar then they took many slave around, from africa, india, madagascar. And I'm from one of them, my ancestors are former slave, yet I respect France and love their culture, History and people. Have a prob with that ?

@@ngoziokereke3561 I’d suggest looking at the line T bus stops and basing yourself in one of the cities like Saint Paul or St Pierre en.reunion.fr/organize/holiday-tips/questions-answers/transport-on-the-island/

@@ngoziokereke3561 it also depends what you want to do, how long you’re there, and season. When it’s hot on Reunion, people stay in higher altitudes as it’s cooler. When it’s cooler, the lower altitudes are warmer. If you plan to hike or get to the cirques out can be a long trip.

My pleasure. I do speak fluent French and didn’t use English while there. However I think most people do speak some English as many people from Reunion travel other places or have lived other places and then moved back.
