I live in California USA and Reunion is the furthest point in the world from California. I am retired now - next year there will be a family reunion in Sri Lanka but I plan to take the long way there - San Francisco, Paris, Reunion, Mauritius, and then Colombo, , Sri Lanka I hope Reunion is worth the trip and yes I will brush up on my French before hand. I made a friend this year visiting the US from this island (she came for a semester at my university), I’d love to visit her sometime to see where she lives! I am still looking for an "EU"-island to suit my needs. I was thinking of Martinique, however problems over there are getting a little bit too much. (Saragossum plague, pesticide levels, now sadly Yellow fever, poisonous snakes..) so this looks interesting. Also, there are fantastic artists on Reunion, which is fabulous since I am a painter. I might be there soon! Thank you for such valuable tipps

Hi! Thanks for this viedo. Is it really so cold in July/August in the center of Reunion? For example we want to start some hiking from Cilaos. Some of the websites shows that in Cilaos in July/August is around 18 degrees Celsius. In the video you showed more like around -2 degrees Celsius in this area. What is the truth about weather in Reunion in July/August? 😅 Thanks in advice for your reply.

you can have some hot winter and colder one. If you are a foreigner (and you know really cold weather), you will find it ok. People from France always say that it's ok ! . Cilaos this year didn't reach low temperature like 0°C or minus. My advice : be focus on your hiking :) bring a pull just in case and everything will be ok :)

sorry, I didn't see your message. we have bus. From my point of you, if you can, it is really better to have a car. Taxi is quit expensive at the end (from the airport, it is ok for the 1st time). We don't have subway or things like that.

We have what we call " bus jaune" that mean yellow bus, that's allow you to travel between the main cities on the Island but if you want to go in more rural places or the "countryside" better to have a car Indeed.

Unlikely unless you are from the EU or you are married to someone from La Réunion, even then a visa will cost you upwards of €500, regardless of whether it is accepted. You also need to prove you are able to support yourself for the duration of your stay.

​@@JennieLeonie Incorrect. Reunion is not part of Schengen area. If you visit France on a EU Schengen visa you will not be allowed to visit Reunion.
