Murky Seb's Wild Underwater Adventures ep 13
This is our biggest adventure so far! We went to a secret location to try and track down the Ornate Rainbowfish (Rhadinocentrus ornatus) but will we succeed?
We also across some amazing species of Australian plants (one of which is totally reliant on fires to open its seed pods!), Eels, Gudgeons and Crayfish.
Come along on this wild adventure as we brave the Australian wilderness.
Want to financially support the creation of more nature documentaries head over to patreon !

@@murkyseb FYI I did Marine Biology & Zoology at JCU in Townsville, and always had a passion for native freshwater fish. Have done hundreds of hours freshwater snorkelling all around NQ. Was one of the first people to ever snorkel with Gymnothorax polyuranodon, way back in 1982. I am never happier than when snorkelling a stream somewhere. Great to see your passion too.

6:35 I read an article where a specific species of banksia (coast banksia) suffered greatly following fires in Wilsons Promontory National Park in Victoria. This includes low survival and germination of seeds released by mature plants. It was stated that the failure of the species to survive fires was due to invasion of coastal ti-tree, as these plants release oils that encourage fire, causing fires to burn too hot and kill the banksia trees. Random bit of information, but I felt like sharing. Nice video by the way, its nice to see people investigating the habitats of native species. You could also further contribute to research by entering observations on community science projects such as iNaturalist. Keep it up!

Thank you very much :) I will continue. I’m not always able to carry the stuff needed to photograph a sample fish due to the remote locations and having to carry everything otherwise yes that’s a great idea :). If you know anybody that might be interested in my videos it’d help me out a lot if you showed them to them
