I was told when i was kid that Maa Paravati gave the Vel (Spear/Bhaala) to lord Murugan at Vaideeshwaran Koil where he is workshipped as Selva Muthu Kumaran Swamy and since Angarakan ( Chevvai/ Mangal) was cured of his Leprosy there by Lord Vaidyanatha, Lord Selva Muthu Kumaran is the lord of Mars ( Angarakan/Chevvai/Mangal) and anyone who prays there Angarakan does not harm them, Om Murugan thunai 🙏🙏
