Wonderful innovation Brian. Thanks to CEO for hosting you. However, my concern is how you'll sustain this project considering that timber is getting less and less available
@nowfortomorrАй бұрын
It is a good point Janifarus, we have a detailed plan in place by following our sustainability plan, our timber suppliers and growers have well prescribed management plan where they are able to harvest timber for over a 20 year period while replanting the cleared fields. From our capacity assessment in terms of timber for construction, we can build 6700 homes per year by sourcing timber from Jinja alone, this is already a good figure .

Wooden houses are perfect in durability just as brisk houses, this is a wonderful initiative ,my concern however is the architectural designs is not attractive , need more design modifications.Besides as is known in Ugandan business costs are extremely too high ,a 30 m almost complete 3 bed burnt brick house ok

137m/109sqm = 1,250,000 per square meter. That doesn't qualify under low cost housing. I believe the selling point for this is speed of completion. It's disappointing that locally made building materials cost more than imported. It's the story of stones/Slates, rock and even sand.
@CEOInsights7Ай бұрын
Thank you for your observation and comments. Good points. 👍

What is the Comparison for Maintenance between Wooden houses and Brick houses .. Consider White Ants that can destroy your house if Fumigation isn't done regularly. This is brings a cost above cost of fumigation for brick houses. Wooden floors require regular lacquer etc
@nowfortomorrАй бұрын
I like your opinion Charles, in terms of maintenance costs, still conventional construction would be on a high end. What separates timber construction from the rest is that pressure treatment done for timber preservation is a one time process so termites will never have to attack the wood again, in following years , you may do regular painting which doesn’t require a technical person.

Only that in uganda wood is more expensive than brick house
@nowfortomorrАй бұрын
I agree Arafat, in some areas wood could be expensive given the cost involved in its transportation but given the fact that it is the main building material, it becomes cheaper to apply in construction as compared to buying bricks, cement and steel, the cost of wood substitutes all these in one and at a fair price.
