Thanks, Elliot. This is very informative, especially for us Americans who generally don't know much about Holyrood Week.

I love the bagpipes. I was very fortunate to have visited Edinburgh and saw Hollywood Castle. Also Balmoral! I can easily see why the Royal Family love Scotland so much. Good coverage as usual, Elliot.

You're in luck Elliot - I play the bagpipes. HRH The Prince of Wales looks oh-so-regal in his Thistle mantle. ::fanning myself with the approving green fan::

On a first date. Man asked if I disliked any musical instruments. I thought and then said I had trouble with the bagpipe as a solo instrument but there was nothing more thrilling than an entire regiment. He looked at me. Any other instruments?? I said, Well, the kazoo can be pretty annoying. He cracked up and said we must listen to very different sorts of music. He was a violist with a local symphony. So we went to a couple of symphonies. I fell asleep both times. He said, You know, you could just say you don't care for symphonies. I said, Oh, but I do! I find them very restful. lol

I wish the King would spend more than 1 week in Scotland. He's the king of Scotland and he only spends one week a year there.

He spends much more time there than just one week. He spends most of the summer there and after Christmas.
