Welcome to Colombia
Yopal (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yopal) is the capital of the department of Casanare (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casanar.... Yopal is located at 20 minutes by plane from Bogotá. Founded by colonists from Boyaca in 1915 and in recent years it has represented a great population advance compared to other Colombian towns. Yopal's climate is usually hot, between 20º and 33º and has an altitude of 350 meters above sea level.
Yopal is a city that has managed to maintain its cultural traditions throughout history, therefore it is a place where you can find real Colombian llaneros, mamona (veal) (www.colombia.travel/es/comida/...) and joropo (typical dance of the Colombian llanos) (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joropo).
Yopal has several sites of interest for visitors, such as shopping malls, museums and parks.
One of these places is the Parque Temático Historias de Piedra (www.tripadvisor.co/Attraction..., located 20 minutes from Yopal. The park has a trail to the top where there is a viewpoint where you can see Yopal. In addition, during the tour you can see stones in animal forms and representative things of the Colombian llanos culture.
Among the traditional things of the Colombian llanos we find mamona restaurants in Yopal and factories of llanero hats. On one hand, the mamona is roast beef that is usually accompanied by potatoes, platains and yuca. The mamona is prepared on charcoal. One of the best restaurants to eat typical mamona is Restaurante La Mamona (www.turismoporcasanare.com/la-....
On the other hand, one of the best factories of llanero hats is Tienda Florentino. Llanero hats are formed to suit the client's needs and made of wool. The hat is an indispensable piece in the dress of the llanero man. It is an element that has all the Colombian llanos identity.
