When you get married, barring a pre-nup, don’t assets such as houses get automatically become part-owned by the spouse? Also as OP could prove she was paying the mortgage wouldn’t she be able to lay some claim to it in a divorce?

"The one he wants can't provide what he wants." This is what gets me about people like the ex-husband and his family. You vilify others, namely women, for their "modernism" but like a scavenger try to make bank off them that they because of their "modern" ways, all the while claiming bs superiority like it means something. They want to FEEL like 'the man' without actually BEING and behaving like one, then throw a fit worse than a child. Ugh, now he's lost more time, money, and his credit score tanked worse trying this scam a second (if that) time. Wish OP the best.

My dad did something scummy like this before my parents got divorced. He was in a nasty car wreck in Texas coming from a motocross race with another woman. We live in another state entirely. We drove to Texas to learn what happened, he had a broken neck and was in critical and so was she. My mother was so pissed we all left and my grandma, his mom and my aunt his sister stayed with him through recovery. This isn’t the first time my mom caught him doing something like that and only stayed with him as long as she did to give me a long a normal childhood with both parents as long as possible. She went to his job he owned to pay his employees, had to lockpick his office door and found an expensive Ducati autographed trophy bike from a former pro, and a bunch of papers with her signature scribbled on it repeatedly. She planned to sell some camp property they owned for a few years to help with medical bills from the wreck. Come to find out the bank manager said not only did my dad sell the land months prior to the wreck but he had taken my mom off the account as well. Turns out he was forging her signature and most likely planned to just divorce and ditch. The whole situation went as good as it could’ve gone. My dad made a full recovery having rods holding his neck together, they got divorce with no contest when I was in middle school. At 10-13 it really sucked having to learn your dad is not only an adulterer but would use you as canon fodder just to get back at my mom who was nothing but loyal to the marriage. He was always unhinged and a workaholic life of the party. After the wreck he had depression, made a stupid suicide joke in front of a psychiatrist and had been held for a few weeks and diagnosed bipolar depressive. It explains his behavioral issues but still insane to rationalize all his behavior to mental illness. My family has history of addiction since his dad is an alcoholic and my dad claimed a sex addict. I probably should go see a doc to see if I inherited any kind of addictive traits conditions or the like. Point is I can’t stand cheating. I understand it and can rationalize it in certain situations but most of the time I can’t excuse it without proper motive like one person giving up and forcing the other to move on in some way or abusive relationships. I just want to have my own family and raise some kids with two parents who love each other.

@premiumfruits3528 5 ай бұрын
must be a woman who loves attention, then a woman having a bunch of straight male friends is 100% a red flag, and 95% of the time it means there's at least emotional cheating going on women don't seem to understand that you wanting attention from others is still cheating, even if it's not one specific guy, just attention in general you might see them as a friend, or at least tell yourself you do, but those dudes are not your friends, they don't give a shit about you beyond the presence of your vagina, any dude that genuinely enjoys the company of a female friend is either gay or so in denial he needs therapy, women do not offer anything to a man in terms of real friendship, a man can not mentally form that brotherly male bond that he forms with his real friends, it's just not possible, you are there for your looks and the potential of getting into your holes, don't get it twisted

Second story: it's kind of wild how often this happens with women. Lose interest in the guy they're married to/dating, but enjoy having him finance their life while they go fishing for a "better" guy. Get found out, devolve into absolute histrionics and tears, while claiming the guy has it all wrong, and it's innocent, and she'll stop. For bonus toxic points, some throw in the "this is your fault, you made me do this" here.

what a weird story. I'm curious what country or state this story is from. In the US, in California, If she had just divorced, she would have gotten the value she added to the house anyways since the mortgage was paid with communal property. And by forcing a foreclosure fire sale, she loses quite a bit of money on a bank sale vs a private sale. She should have just divorced and demanded half the value of the house. Then, if the guy or his parents can buy her out, so be it. If they can't, then they sell the house together.
@manifest2203
@manifest2203 4 ай бұрын
I think for her the fact that his parents didn’t get the house is more than worth it to face the loss. Plus looks like they will lose the grocery store too. Or at the very least take on another huge debt to pay her back.

@longwaydown6959
@longwaydown6959 Ай бұрын
@Nathan_Bookwurm You must not understand why that can be a big deal in some of the states. Most of our infrastructure revolves around having a car. Simple things like grocery stores, retail centers, Malls, etc. Are all normally far from an area that you live in. Hell when I lived in Tennessee for a little bit, the nearest grocery store was 45 minutes away by car. It would take someone hours to walk there and back. Not to mention that a lot of the main roads that connect the urban housing environment are roads that are illegal to walk on like highways. So yeah, he's probably considering it a huge deal if she was willing to put effort in like that just to back cookies dor this dude
@peepawfart
@peepawfart Ай бұрын
You are stupid if you don't realize American cities not only don't have sidewalks, but are built in a way where the nearest grocery store is an hour walk away at least. I don't live in a rural area at all, my nearest grocery store is a 10 minute drive but a 2 hour walk. I can't stand it when non-americans talk shit when they don't know what the hell they're talking about. You probably think it takes an hour to drive from the Statue of Liberty to the Grand Canyon.
@aceseightsa8411
@aceseightsa8411 Ай бұрын
Well its 40 minutes by car to nearest store for me here in TN so... yea it'd be a big deal to WALK there & back. Foreigners don't realize how big USA is & alot is rural w no public transport. We measure distance in time here not miles. Its a 1.5 hr drive to next COUNTY every Sunday for church & dinner w grandparents. You can drive HOURS & still be in same county. Some states drive DAYS still in same STATE.

Yes she would lose all the money invested, but as things were going she was going to lose it all anyway. She was paying for a property that wasn't hers, legally speaking. She had already lost, but by defaulting on the mortgage she made sure no one got anything. With that said, she states that she included compensation for her contribution towards the mortgage as a term in her divorce.
