Discovering a Sony STR-DE485 AV Receiver

I test and evaluate a Sony STR-DE485 AV Receiver that I bought for cheap at a thrift store.

I just bought one of these in mint condition off Ebay for $30 + shipping. Even though its older, it still has it where it counts. 5.1, DTS, DPL, Optical, etc.

I really enjoyed your review on this unit of course I have the same one and had it working fine for over ten yrs. But I am recently retiring it to a backup getting a Sony str-dn840 just a little upgrade but at the moment I'll say this was a good investment these are the items I've ran on it Ps4, 300disc cd player , windows tablet, vhs player, mini disc player and a laser disc player and the decoding works and sounds great especially on blu-ray currently running a 3.1 2 towers a center and a sub. With the upgrade I'll move up to a 5.2 setup even so I'll still be glad to keep the former around it hasn't failed me still a great unit.,PeaceLove&GodBless 👍

i got the same thing lol, side of the road find but its mint, so i got a question, if i have aaanother amp, how do i wire that amp or reciever to thaat one? i use video 1 usuaaally and theres in, and output and the out doesnt seem to do aanything

i heard that the receivers sony are good receivers, they have 20 years and still working, old technology are much better than new electronic stuff because this days everything are made in china and thats not good, congratulations,!! you have a great receiver

technology from 2010 to back are good technology, why ? it made with good materials, work much better than new stuff, you can fix it and find repair parts, have manual for repair it, i only buy vintage technology, you have a great av receiver

Any advice on how to tune. I live outside of town and had 1 station but now its gone and the tuning just keeps going and going.

I have 5 polk speakers connected to this Sony STR-DE485, I want to set them all at full volume, any idea how to do it? I can hear like 3 of them are really low

The STR-DE485 unit might have a speaker calibration feature - I'm not sure. If so, that feature could be working against you. Maybe you could recalibrate that (which requires a calibration microphone), or at least reset your unit to a factory setting using the control panel.

Definitely download the manual and read it thoroughly, specially all the "notes"

Coloque as saídas em modo LARGE, porém note que esse aparelho tem em média 70rms por canal porém a fonte não é capaz de manter isso em 5 canais, é necessário fazer alguns ajustes de ganho e focar nas caixas que você quer que fique mais "forte". Se subir todos os níveis é óbvio que o amplificador irá limitar as saídas.
