Our secret to an aromatic, flavorful and ultimate dipping sauce for Siomai is a fusion of Hoisin sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Japanese Shoyu, then we add a squeeze of calamansi or lemon juice, a little bit of chili oil, few drops of sesame oil, then sprinkle it with chopped scallions. HI, KURT! Everytime we make Siomai, we always combine the fillings, like Pork and Shrimp, Chicken and Pork or Beef and Mushrooms. Combining the filling is our common practice to enhance the flavor profile, as the Shrimp adds a delicate seafood taste and juiciness while the Pork provides a richer, meatier texture, creating a well-balanced and flavorful bite. Pork and Chicken actually go really well together, and each adds extra flavor to the other too, without being overpowering in any way. While Mushrooms are brimming with glutamates that complement the nucleotides in Beef, it creates a deeply umami taste! Maybe you should try making Siomai on your next cooking vlog. Traditional siomai as well as most of 'Dimsum' fares are steamed! It makes for a less filling & satiating option than the fried ones.Also, the flavors are more pronounced! It is good to know that Cebu has them outside of Chinatown! Anyhow, a lighter dipping sauce of soy sauce, kalamansi juice & sesame oil enhances the taste of each of them! Enjoy & Goodluck!

Just a tip / suggestion when you get home & you feel the craving for siomai / wonton soup. Wonton soup by the way as mentioned by the ladies are siomai with noodles & veggies. All of these ingredients are available at your friendly Oriental stores.....fresh & frozen.Just boil / steam the frozen siomai, add powdered broth mix, fresh noodles & Chinese bokchoy & finish off with drops of sesame oil on serving & you have a restaurant grade meal!
