We take a bus from Delhi to Manali, beautiful mountain village in the foothills of India's Himalayas. Here we stop and recharge to prepare for our next big leg of the journey, the Road of Death from Manali to Leh, Ladakh (next episode!).
The home-stay we stayed at in this episode is 'Welcome Homestay' (you can find them on TripAdvisor), run by a lovely local family. It's tucked away up on the mountain and just the place for some much-needed downtime and incredible home cooking.
Crossing Asia
Filmed in 2017, these vlogs take you along for the journey as we cross Asia from India to Japan overland attempting to use no planes and no plastics. Learn more about our journey and upcoming book: www.voyagevirage.com

The beauty of these places is you will wonder how people are living in the minimalistic requirements and you will find joy of peace in the fast moving world.

Thank you for your comment Ravi. It's certainly hard to go back to the hustle and bustle of big cities and capitalism in general after spending time with more minimalist communities. Our travels and work has introduced the 'degrowth' movement to us, particularly in the global north where we've overshot our planetary resources profoundly. We are certainly committed to changing our lifestyles and this is a big inspiration for our upcoming adventure and project, the 'floating stories lab', where we want to create resilience and share stories and knowledge aboard our future floating home (sailboat!).

When in India you should visit ~ 1. For White sand Turquoise water Beaches----> a) Andaman Nicobar Islands ( in it Havelock's, Neil Island, Rose and Smith Islands, Elephanta beach, Radha Nagar beach). b) Lakshyadweep Islands ( Bangaram Islands, Thinikara, Minikoy, Kadmat, Agati Islands.) 2. For Desserts and Palaces ----> Rajasthan - Udaipur, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Pushkar, Jaisalmer offers (overnight stay in dessert, bonfire under moonlit sky/ camel safari). 3. For Snow Clad Mountains, Himalayas ----> Ladhak, Leh, Nubra valley, Tso moriri, Pagong lake, Tawang, Manali, Spiti valley, Sikkim - Nathu la pass, Gurudongmar lake, Lachung, Tsomgo lake/Changu lake, Yumthang Valley, Mcleodganj/Dharamshala (snows in winter). 4. For Backwaters, Tree House, Boat House ----> Kerala - Munnar, Wayanad, Alleppy, Varkala beach, Kovallam beach, Idduki, Thekkady. 5. For Tropical Beaches ----> Goa - Beaches - Butterfly beach, Vagator, Calangute, Anjuna, Colva, & Benaulim, Fort Aguada, Church of Mae De Deus, Basilica of Bom Jesus, Temple of Bodgeshwar, St Xavier’s Church, Grand Island (for watersports), Dudhsagar Waterfalls. 6. North East India---> Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim. India is 29 states 7 Union Territory. Each state is distinct and diverse by race, ethnicity, cuisine, language, festivals, ethnic dress, religion, mannerisms etc. No one state is similar to the other. Therefore India or indians cannot be stereotyped in one category for anything. Each state experience is unique to that state/area. Google each "Indian state tourist spots" based on your preference you want to visit (dessert, fort, snow, palaces, hill station, himalayas, temples, etc you'll get tourist spots for it). Best time to visit India is in winters - Oct to Jan end. .

It's important that new generation mydt be brought more close to nature. It's certain that current standard of living set by west is not the humen are supposed to have indefinitely. The current life standards benchmark is certainly going against Mother nature. Therefore children's observations about is very natural. I support next generation stake holders of this mother planet. We including you as current resident of this planet has solemn responsibility of passing healthier planet to next generation. They r not demanding but it's their right.
