You should have had garlic alioli with the anchovies. Fantastic! Glad you are enjoying yourself. De-beard the mussels first then into a pot with onion, garlic, and white wine, hot of course. Tip in mussels, lid back on. 2 minutes and they are ready. They will have opened. Crusty bread to dip in. Yum yum. Xx

I had a Rick Stein cooking experience as a gift from my daughters last year in Padstow Cornwall. And the head chef teaching us explained that if a fresh mussel is slightly open don't right it off. Tap it gently on the worktop if it's still alive it will close. So it will be fine to cook and eat. Great vlogs guys.

We absolutely loved Denia as well! We were there in December, and had 2 nights in each of the aires you went to. If you want a good Indian takeaway, there's one on the roundabout by the marina park-up called Rani Palace. If you go along the main road and pass the 2nd marina, there's a lovely raised walkway going around the back of the marina. A great bar there overlooking the water.

As you head down the coast head up to Castell de Guadalest, the drop in to villajoyosa, Alicante is worth a visit, follow the 332 down the coast - lots of interesting places. Skip Torrevieja, cut in at San Pedro del pinatar and explore the Mar Menor. Spend some time around here - cabo de palos is lovely. Cartagena is wonderful, so much to explore - Google the old bateria's then make your way to Port de mazarron. Another must is Mojacar - not just the playa but head up in to the village.

Yes , loved that one Redders's , I'm on catch up , missed one somewhere but I'll find it . We've come to a standstill in Benicassim but we love it here so we'll put our feet up for a few weeks and let you youngsters do the racing around and we'll watch you do it on here . You're right, never cook an open mussel. If it's open and you press it closed for a couple of seconds and it stays closed it's fine. Raw mussels shouldn't have any smell 😊

Guessing you are heading for Benidorm, but you should do Moraira first. The Jewell of the Costa Blanca north. Free parking at the main car park.

Denia looks fantastic 😍 both park ups are great but good to know they don't have services, so best to turn empty. Seems strange to get a token for water from the Police station. Absolutely loving the food choices, that sea bass 🤤 we're trying to cut down...make some room for tapas in a couple of months!! Looking forward to Benidorm 🤩❤️❤️

Ahhh don’t be disappointed! We have a big list and those places are on it, we are out here til March! Our preference is always going to be more authentic. Benidorm is not exactly the sort of place we prefer, but we will enjoy showing the contrasts.
