We were TERRIFIED - Motorhome trip to Spain in ruins

This is not particularly a video we wanted to make or that we ever imagined we would go through. I have pixilated all footage showing blood and injuries.
We were terrified and we are still shocked, but we are all ok now.
Dolly is a little trooper and has come out of her surgery so well, my hand is healing beautifully .
But, heres exactly what happened on what we think is possibly the worst experience of our lives.
We are currently on on 9 week trip to Spain in our motorhome, although this has stalled in France where we need to stay for 2 more weeks so Dolly can be treated and signed off as fit.

Such a shame this has happened on your enjoyable trip away,I own a very large breed dog and I’ll be honest isn’t always great with other dogs so therefore I keep her on a lead at all times.I do this to try and be a good responsible owner,What a shame for your poor dog wishing her a speedy recovery and also your hand

I’m so sorry to hear about the awful incident with Dolly (we were holding back the tears watching this vlog), and the vets were clearly genuine people (can’t believe how cheap the treatment was compared to UK vet prices). I hope both Dolly and Corrin make full and fast recoveries. As a dog owner I get so annoyed with awful dog owners who don’t deserve to have animals. Take care of yourselves and please give updates of how Dolly (and Corrin) are progressing♥.

Just watched this episode last night after watching FieldView Adventures and wanted to add my voice to the rest. Dolly should be proud of you both for putting her welfare uppermost in your thoughts and actions. The way you handled this is a lesson for all of us in how not to make an awful situation even worse. Making this video must have been especially painful for you Corrin but you were right to share the experience. This is an absolute worry of mine, so many people these days do not take proper responsibility for their aggressive dogs. Well done to you for dealing with those people the way you did, I’m afraid to say I’m not sure I’d have had the same self control in that situation. I’m so glad Dolly and Corrin are on the mend at least physically, I’m sure the psychological scars will take a little bit longer to heal ❤ You’ve definitely given me some things to think about when travelling with my dogs and the first thing on my list is to get a dog first aid kit for my campervan, but also one for home.

Can’t believe what happened to Dolly, she is so gorgeous. Same happened to my small Lhasa apso dog attack on a campsite while my dogs were on a lead, large dog grabbed her neck and wouldn’t let go, she survived after a large a large vet bill(money no option)and it shook me as well taking my dogs out. How horrific it’s heartbreaking to see you dog in pain makes you feel so helpless, glad you had some painkillers on board. Fingers crossed no lasting effects but it does affect them, so sad and so unnecessary as I’m sure the other people were aware of the nature of their dog . Very sorry to see this happen to you. I was always told to grab the attacking dogs collar, lift the front paws off the ground and twist. The dog should pass out fairly quickly. If there is no collar try and make one from something, belt, lead etc. Easier said than done and luckily I have never had to try. Hope Dolly recovers well.

As fellow dog owners and caravners our hearts go out to you and Dolly. What an awful experience which both upset us and and made us angry. Upset for you and Dolly and angry how some people dont take responsibility for their dogs and even more so when they had a child with them. Thankfully you are all safe and will recover physically but can imagine it will take a long time to relax when out with the dogs. We dont live far from Porthcawl and have heard from friends and family members who have experienced similar from irresponsible dog owners. Try not to let it ruin your holiday. Tears shed here in Australia. We are currently travelling for four months with friends and three dogs between us. What a horrible thing to happen. What a terrible experience and it made me cry. It highlights the irresponsible dog owners of this world who think that it’s perfectly acceptable to have a vicious dog off the lead. I think your calmness in the situation is commendable. I’m sure I would have gone ballistic if someone’s dog attacked mine. I'm such a dog lover that I had to tune into your video to make sure she is ok..Its heart breaking when your fur baby gets attacked through no fault of her own. Sorry to learn of this but I'm months after the incident and know she has come through it all now. However firstly, hearing of your experience of the French vets has restored my (and probably yours) faith in humans! I too have also experienced a similar incident involving my (now retired) working Search Dog. It is horrific enough just to witness the squeals let alone witness in slow-time the actual incident. Glad it was all sorted. We become all the more wiser after such occurrences don't we. Were the offending 'a-holes' and their dangerous dog ever identified? Every dog owners worst nightmare, its bad enough in your own country, but when in another country it must be even more horrific !!! So glad you both got sorted by a very well caring vet, who tbh was very reasonable priced. Hopefully she will have no long term effects by this terrible ordeal. How is the other dog of yours btw ? Very good point about a dog first aid kit, going to check with our vet next week about putting a first aid kit together and keeping it in our van when we are out and about. Huge hugs I can only imagine what you went through. I'm so sorry you had to go through this. I used to have 3 dogs, one was a 13 and a half year old staffi who sadly passed a couple of years ago, although a staffi she was only a bit viscous if anyone came near me on a walk, so she was always on a lead and had a muzzle when I took her a walk. After realising that only happened with me my sons then started taking her on walks, she didn't need the muzzle with them. Hopefully you and Dolly recover very soon and can get past this horrible situation. Xx

Wow just watched this. This is our worst nightmare. We have ours off lead as they love the sea. They never bother with any other dog but we get a lot of other dogs coming to ours with no owner in sight . We have been lucky so far but it's so worrying . Great video guys and an emotional one for you to do. When we were in Sweden our Bella was walking on lead when out of a garden flew a bully type dog. He was determined to get Bella. Thankfully the owner came tearing over and literally threw herself on the dog and pinned the dog down whilst we escaped. The struggle my hubby had to keep the dog off Bella was incredible. We cannot believe to this day how neither Bella or my hubby were not injured. We were so shook up so can't imagine the distress you went through with this horrific experience. At least you are now both healing. Xx

So sorry to hear of your awful experience. It's very frightening witnessing and being a part of a dog attack. Dolly will recover well but poor you guys seeing and being a part of it. I hope all the wounds on you both heal quickly. Being a veterinary nurse myself, I am glad to hear Dolly received excellent veterinary treatment. There is a compressed air spray you can purchase in a small aerosol can. It will fit in a pocket and useful to spray in the face of the attacking dog. It makes a loud hissing noise as it shoots compressed air out. Just a suggestion, might help you feel a little more confident to expel an unwanted dog. Sending healing wishes to you all

Many many years ago our dog got attacked by a security dog when we were out for a walk in a park, it was a terrifying ordeal so I can imagine how scary it must of been for you all, especially in a foreign country. Thanks for the advice about a doggie first aid kit, we do carry liquid pain killer for our Labrador now as she is 13 but would not have thought about this before so thank you for the advice.
