Well done! We visited Normandy (and its cemeteries and museum) and stayed in Mont-Saint-Michel, but you covered some areas of interest we missed and will explore next trip -- Thank you!

Born and raised in Normandy more than half a century ago in a family of gourmets, I also never heard of the teurgoule until last decade. I have no idea why this recipe has had to become ubiquitous in every show about Normandy since then. It certainly was never common all over Normandy, where apple pie is the real specialty dessert.

There is nothing more disappointing than rude locals ruining a dream vacation. Why spend money in a country that does not want you in the first place?

My father‘s first cousins are in Caen and Rouen … I researched our family history through the civil departments of Calvados , Seine-Maritime etc, Through the family Boisraméy ( my french Grande-mère) And I found we were part of the family of Le Chevallier’s ( yes, 2 LL’s), which means The knights, and they were on the finance board of the church of Saint Sampson, which is at the mouth of the Orne River in Ouistreham ..They were fishermen and they approved funds through the church to different sectors of the agricultural community in the area… They intermarried with the de Ste-Croix family, and if you put their names together, it comes out to the Knights of the Holy Cross… perhaps they were part of the crusades at one time? Given the names I’d have to think so… Well, what I just relish most is that they probably caught a lot of oysters… and I’ve always loved oysters and wondered why!!!Given that Ouistreham Means, the burg or village of oysters!!! 🦪 yum….Là Voila!!! There you go!!!
