I would say the Cars Roadtrip area should be considered an expansion plot. It seems like the current Cars attraction is a placeholder. Wouldn’t a full blown Radiators Springs be great in that spot?
@themainstreetnews2 ай бұрын
I completely agree with you. Cars Road trip should be a temporary placeholder using old infrastructure that was already there. There's a simple reason why I didn't consider it an expansion plot: as it would be a replacement of an existing ride. When Buzz replaced Le Visionarium, that wasn't an expansion but a replacement, same thing here. However these are mostly semantics and it could very well be seen as one.

The next line of thinking is: which of Disney's most-recent projects - built or announced - could come here? With Frozen and the Lion King (maybe), Adventure World is probably done for at least a decade. And a lot of money is being spent on Disney Village. So Disneyland will be next, and it's NOT going to be a major expenditure. Big projects like Avatar and Galaxy's Edge are extremely unlikely (they've already canceled the Star Wars project once). Even the Cars road rally thing or the TRON coaster are probably too expensive AND expansive. That said, it needs to APPEAR major. They aren't going to get away with a Tangled teacups ride over here. So they gotta go E-Ticket, or new land with a D-Ticket. These are those options, as I see them: MOANA - Yeah, I led off with a ride that WASN'T announced, but everyone expected it to be... There are two E-Ticket ride systems that are EXTREMELY popular with Disney right now (aside from the trackless system, which they will apparently never get sick of). One is the Tokyo DisneySea Peter Pan system - aka Universal's Spider-Man - which will be used for the upcoming Avengers ride (which is why it's not listed here as it's most likely going next door). The other ride system is the one used for the Shanghai Pirates ride. This appears in all kinds of concept art, but most obviously in DCA's upcoming Avatar land. It was also believed to be the ride system for the Lion King land, but the model shows a much-smaller boat size. I seriously doubt they'd limit throughput unnecessarily, so my guess is the Shanghai Pirates ride system can't do major drops. Also, that ride doesn't use a lot of real estate, thanks to its copious use of screens, and Lion King is promising all kinds of animatronics, so a cheaper, basic flume system is the way to go. If the Lion King is using a different system, then this is the #1 option for going into Disneyland. Why? Moana is currently the #1 movie on the Disney+ charts in France. Worldwide, it's #2 right after the recently-released Inside Out 2. This has basically been the case since Moana was put on the service. This is why Moana was first going to be shoved into Animal Kingdom, before being on the shortlist for Adventureland in the Magic Kingdom. Moana is the Lion King of the 21st Century. With Moana's surprising absence at D23, there's going to be a bigger push to put it somewhere. With all that's promised for Disney parks, the only real options for Moana right now are Paris, Tokyo and original Disneyland. Disneyland got mostly ignored at D23, which suggests something major in the works, something more major than one E-Ticket (and they still don't have Frozen). Tokyo DisneySea, on the other hand, features Moana greatly in its water parade, the only character in the parade who has no presence otherwise in the park. Arendelle was originally supposed to go in the empty elbow of land between Lost River Delta and Port Discovery, so it's obviously ready for construction. If the OLC decides that Moana is next, that would make a Paris version even cheaper, basically ensuring it's coming. INDIANA JONES - With the Tropical Americas makeover in Animal Kingdom, it wouldn't be shocking for them to clone the Indy ride with a Hindu theme for Disneyland (all the Indy rides have different theming). The ride system isn't in Paris yet, and jungle theming is far cheaper than what will be required for Frozen or Lion King. This is a high-ranking option just because it allows them to announce a new Indy mini-land. VILLAIN LAND - Surprisingly, I think this could be a possibility. The concept art is nebulous, but it shows a coaster. That would be a fairly cheap way to shove a full land in here, with expansion opportunities down the road. Still, the park already has 3 major coasters, so Disney must be thinking the next big one needs to go next door, especially after the Flight Force retheme underwhelmed. I include it here ONLY because there's always the possibility of the Indy coaster being rethemed, which would allow them to add a second ride, creating a new land that would still be way cheaper than a new Pandora. It's still probably the most-expensive of all these options as it will require all kinds of detail. COSMIC REWIND - It's an E-Ticket, but like TRON, it's a major space-waster. Also, Marvel is over at Future Adventure World, and that park needs an E-Ticket coaster worse than this one does, even though the theme of this well-received coaster would work in Discoveryland. The Guardians movies are popular in France, so I'm surprised we haven't heard anything about a clone FANTASY SPRINGS - Okay, obviously this whole land isn't a possibility, especially since Frozen and Tangled are already on the way, but as I said earlier, the Peter Pan ride system is EXTREMELY popular with Disney right now. Yeah, it's probably going to go next door in the Avengers ride, but they're being very Universal with the ride system. Universal did Spider-Man and then Transformers (and MIGHT use it for Pokémon), and Disney has plans to use it for Avengers and probably any idea they can come up with. It's boat-themed in the Peter Pan version so it could very well be Moana themed!! (Tangled could have been a contender here, considering the castle is based on France's Mont-Saint-Michel, but they ruined that with the cheapness they're plopping into Adventure World.) ENCANTO AND COCO - We're entering the options with no E-Tickets here, but both of these rides have been announced for the American parks so they should be talked about, especially since both were linked in the original Beyond Big Thunder announcement. This concept could live on: Beyond Temple du Peril. They could even redo Indy's Hindu temple as Mayan, like in Animal Kingdom, and the entire land could have an "Americas" theme, tying it into the neighboring American theme of Frontierland. Two brand new D-Tickets in a brand new land could do the work of one E-Ticket. I know Encanto is popular worldwide, but I don't know about Coco. (At one point, when Coco was part of the Beyond Big Thunder project, it was attached to the Flight of Passage ride system. DCA's Coco will not be using it either, maybe because Pandora will be using it elsewhere in the park. It's surprising the system isn't attached to any other IP, which may be to appease James Cameron, who has promised a new ride film for the DCA version.) ZOOTOPIA - While a huge hit in Shanghai Disneyland, it's seriously doubtful something this major would come to Paris. That kind of detail does not come cheap. (Notice the lack of detail in the Lion King model. There's a reason it replaced Star Wars.) That said, they are making a new film for Animal Kingdom, so porting that over would keep costs low, allowing them to bring over the ride as well. A D-Ticket and a C-Ticket with amazing buildings would make a splash. I just don't know how popular Zootopia is in France and in the rest of Europe. MONSTERS, INC LAND - Highly doubtful as it's being used more as a crutch to fix one of the many problem areas in DHS, so it's more about using what's already there. While Paris obviously did this with Avengers Campus, there's no area left where new facades could be added to existing buildings. Plus, the door coaster seems no more exciting than the Crush Coaster, and it simply cannot be the first new ride in decades or there will be a new French Revolution. Who knows? Disney came out of left field with the Lion King idea, so anything is possible. But most of these possibilities would use the Adventureland plot, including my Top Four - Moana, Indy, Villains, Americasland - so I'm at least feeling good about the location.

I think the best addition would be the new beauty and the beast dark ride from Tokyo, come to Paris’ Fantasy Land section. It would give that park its true standout ride it needs and you wouldn’t need to build a whole new land for it
@ChienaAvtzonАй бұрын
@@Haazza - That “Beauty and the Beast” ride is exclusive to Tokyo, and will remain so. The most I can see Disney doing is resurrecting that scraped interactive show. Unique versions of the “Indiana Jones Adventure” and “Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway” are the most likely to be brought over to Disneyland Paris. Contrary to what some claim, both rides are E-tickets in the USA. PS: the Shanghai Pirates ride system is rumored to be exclusive to James Cameron now.

Temple of Peril needs to be demolished, its a dreadful ride. Then you have huge space for a proper E-Ticket attraction. Think, Temple of Doom Mine Cart ride... I would also get rid of Autopia which is 50 years out of date and, in keeping with the Jules Verne theme, build Journey to the Centre of the Earth based in a giant volcano - just like in Tokyo, but bigger. For DSP, Catastrophe Canyon has to go! Look at all the land it takes up. How about a Coco Dark ride, in keeping with the Pixar land theme. Of course, that costs money, and Disney are not exactly rolling in it these days...
@ChienaAvtzonАй бұрын
Disney should consider resurrecting that “Beauty and the Beast” interactive show. The Beast’s castle would fit in beautifully within Fantasyland. After “The Lion King” area is finished, Disney needs to invest into the main gate. Unique versions of the “Indiana Jones Adventure” and “Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway” would be a great start. Honestly, even Soarin’ could be a great fit for Discoveryland. As that ride has a unique queue in California and Tokyo. Those three rides, combined with the “Beauty and Beast” attraction would be a good way to freshen up Disneyland Paris after all these decades. Especially, since they would be scattered throughout the park. Then Disney could consider more immersive lands, like Pandora and Villains, in the future.

@@ZeNN-Music What I find frustrating is if you think about it, Disney haven't really announced any new investment in Paris recently... Lion King is just a change in plans (previously, Galaxy's Edge), and Frozen is already under construction so the opening date was just a "re-announcement", even Avenger's Campus is a rebuild of an existing area and ride (web slingers being the only new ride there). I think the main castle park desperately needs new attractions, some of the lands only have a couple of "big" attractions, and now some of those old rides seem to be needing extended maintenance/refurbishment (Big Thunder, rumoured 6 months) - so when they're closed, there isn't a lot of alternatives, especially if they schedule lots of stuff to be down at the same time...

@@themainstreetnews I agree. Also Everest would have been fun on top of their new upcoming mountain in the Studio Park. Or Tron coaster would have been nice, especially as they already installed two version, this third one won't be so expensive for them. Space mountain and Flight force are nice but old tech. It will be better to invest in a new coaster tech also because they will have to close for a long time BTM in 2025 to fully refurbish it. And maybe the same soon for Space Mountain. I can't understand why the board had chosen not invest a new coaster in their new Frozen Land also for this reason. At one point two many coasters will be down, old. However, pricing has become outrageous. We go to DLP now annually paying much less than Orlando. I agree with another comment posted, I think that the area above Cars Roadtrip should be used for a Radiator Springs area + the Cars Roadtrip being reimagined. The Avatar land could potentially be used to draw people to the third park once it finally arrives, that way there could potentially be a ride, or multiple ones, based on the upcoming movies. Otherwise there is a lot of potential within the existing parks and the areas around it. I'd love for Disneyland park to add a madhouse flat ride like Villa Volta in the Efteling and Hex in Alton Towers based on the Three Musketeers movie with Mickey, Donald and Goofy. (Unpopular opinion, I know) and I think a new hotel being named and themed after Walt Disney Studios with hommages to the early days of the second park (Cinemagique, Animagique etc.) could be cool. Between this and the video on the potential fourth hotel around Lake Disney, it's clear that the company expected then Euro Disney to be their new flagship resort, possibly surpassing even Disney World. That said. I truly hope they won't expand much more. Small expansions that add rides to the existing parks are welcome. But another hotel and a third gate would be awful. It's easy to romanticize our own, epic new expansion and third gate. But since we're not continuously near resort capacity, I think the huge costs of adding a third great or other grand expansions would not be worth the fractional number of additional visitors. And those costs would probably be passed on to visitors. The castle park is frequently at capacity though. But the Lion King and Frozen expansions in Studios will likely alleviate those when they open. It sucks that they botched the opening of Euro Disney so badly all those decades ago. If they hadn't, major expansions would've been very viable and welcome. But for now, I'm glad they're keeping things more humble. I just hope to see a steadier inclusion of new rides.

Well you have to bare in mind that Disney has a contractual obligation with the french government to build the third park and as of the last revision to the plan, they no longer have the ability to push the project back. They have until the mid 2030's or they will have the land taken from them.

The flagship park is the original Disneyland, and always will be.

Why so? Disney failed it
@ChienaAvtzonАй бұрын
@@lulabelle82 - Disney actually did not own the resort until 2017. You know, when they finally started investing into it. The original plan was for all the international parks to be managed by third parties, with WDI only designing the attractions.

They took Star wars galaxys edge from us to give us LION KING
@themainstreetnews2 ай бұрын
It’s the better choice. We were getting not even a third of Galaxy’s Edge with just one of the rides. Lion King will be an exclusive to this park major E-Ticket based on one of the most successful classic Disney movies ever! Plus, it’s somewhat likely Disneyland Park will eventually get a new Star Wars land at the back of Discoveryland too.
@ChienaAvtzonАй бұрын
@@themainstreetnews - Pandora is more likely than a mini-Galaxy’s Edge. Just due to how insanely popular “Avatar” is in Europe.

They should build a Tiana's Bayou Adventure.

They are planning to build a lion king splash mountain attraction in studios park
@themainstreetnews2 ай бұрын
It’s not going to be a Splash Mountain but something completely new. But yes, it’ll be similar to Tiana’s in a sense of thrill and ride system

The park could totally be better in the future, it just won't, as the company barely cares about this particular park in Paris. As the Star Wars area didn't make the cut already, I'm not sure about the Lion King project even becoming a thing
@themainstreetnews2 ай бұрын
Star Wars wasn’t cancelled per say, it evolved into Lion King. Next year we will see the groundbreaking of this project.

I've always thought the 126 hectare section should be where Paris's animal kingdom should be, with a Zootopia area, and avatar in there
@themainstreetnews2 ай бұрын
The original plans point to it being a similar park to the never built WESTcot, but an Animal Kingdom style park would be amazing!

I keep thinking, as long as Tony Baxter is alive. He doesn’t want any crappy IP shoehorned inside of his creation. I would agree though, I’d rather have no expantions than blindly adding IP for the sake of something new. I think it fits the „Adventure World” park more.

@@DPatrickkiewiet94 Why does everyone hate IP in Disney parks? I don’t get it
@DPatrickkiewiet942 ай бұрын
@@DisneylandParisLover not saying I hate it. I just don’t like how it’s used… If they’d put Woody’s Roundup in Frontierland, to me… That would look out of place and totally ruin the story Frontierland in Paris is trying to tell. That’s why I think the new Coco themed restaurant that opened (last year?) is a strange choice. Disney, and other theme parks are using IP as a quick thing to get people’s attention. Instead of actually crafting a story that suits a land or space within that land. But, you know that’s just my opinion 😅 And apparently the general public seems to like it so, who am I?
@themainstreetnews2 ай бұрын
Agreed!
@themainstreetnews2 ай бұрын
It's not that people hate IP but rather how it's being used. Look at Space Mountain, the best one in the world that has had Star Wars badly shoehorned into it. IP can be amazing but it can also cheapen a land or attraction a lot
@DisneylandParisLover2 ай бұрын
@@DPatrickkiewiet94 I don’t hate Non IPs I think some of them are very creative like Phantom Manor but I think since it’s called DISNEY land there should be a lot of DISNEY IPs in the parks. Not saying there should be non IPs at all though cause I like some of them

Disneyland Paris is the worst of all the Disney parks. There has been no new development for years, the sets are falling apart, the renovations are long and the result is ridiculous. In short, don't spend your money if you come to Paris. Go to Parc Asterix instead.
