This is a long sleep story for grownups, guided sleep meditation designed, like all my bedtime stories, to calm an overactive mind, created during a livestream with ideas from viewers. This guided sleep meditation sleep story for grownups is to help you let go of thoughts and worries while helping you to fall asleep quickly, tackling insomnia.
This sleep story for grownups about walking along the edge of a lake at night-time. You relax on a bench looking out over the lake, close your eyes and have a dream-like experience. In the experience you discover that you are now in an alternative universe. You fly in a suit of armour up into space looking down on the planet. You travel to a planet where someone needs help, you see a small boy swinging on a swing under a tree. You realise that your main role is to bring hope to people. After experiencing time as a superhero you awaken on that bench again to the sound of splashing. You investigate the splashing and see a Beaver building a dam. You see an Otter and a Platypus and see them heading to the dam. You decide to go and explore the dam. On your way to the dam you see a flash of light in the woodland. You head to the light and notice Sprite's dancing around the tree. You sit on the ground watching the Sprite's, they notice you and come over to you. They encircle you singing. Light begins to encompass you and you begin to shrink down smaller and smaller and suddenly notice yourself becoming a small Dachshund dog. As the dog you go back and investigate the dam, you dive into the water and swim up into the dam. You discover an Otter, Platypus and Beavers in the dam playing cards. As the sun begins to rise, you head back to the tree, the Sprite's circle around you as you get transformed back into your normal self. You go to your car, sit in the warmth of your car, drive away from the lake on the clear roads. Once home, you make something to eat, sit in a chair eat your food and read a novel. Then drift comfortably asleep, discovering yourself walking through snow in a pine forest, wrapped up warm. You head into a cave and hear a gentle growl and see a cute, white, fluffy dragon. You stroke the dragon's back. The dragon gathers up some sticks and lights a campfire for you. It then rests it's head on your lap. You gently stroke it's head and realise that this dragon seems lonely and just wants company. You watch the stars coming out as night sets in. As the wind calms down you hear that you are near the ocean. You head to the ocean with the dragon, find yourself on a cliff, head down the cliff and sit with the dragon on a large rock gazing out to sea. You realise that there is a cave behind you. You head into the cave, follow steps and find yourself in a library containing thousands of Firefly's tending to the books. You notice a bright white pulsating Jellyfish travelling up the library somehow floating in the air, you and the dragon jump onto the Jellyfish, climbing off of its back on the top floor and noticing that the Jellyfish has thousands of tentacles touching the locations of all the books. You touch the back of the Jellyfish with your hand and notice pulsating and knowledge passing through your hand and into you. You learn that this location is a representation of higher consciousness and knowledge. You head out of the library, back to the cave. You rest in the cave for a moment, stroking the Dragon's back. You wake in the cave to the sun shining in. You notice a white rabbit and follow the rabbit. The rabbit hops into a hole in a tree. You touch the tree and find yourself back home, the book resting on your chest, sitting in your comfortable chair. You head to bed, relax and drift off asleep.

This is the first time I’ve heard the entire story. Only because I chose to listen at a time when I wasn’t ready to sleep. My mind did wander a bit, on its own off-shoots of the story. I’ll definitely be revisiting this one when I’m in -go to sleep mode- thank you for what you do.

That is why I try to start each sleep meditation with the same beginning and structure, so that with regular use people habituate to falling asleep to the process, so that just saying the beginning starts the pattern in the listener for falling asleep.

Hey Dan Jones I did not know how to message you, however if you have a chance I would love to see what it would take to get a story made for me. I have a general idea in mind and just love your stories so much, having one that suits my imagination perfectly would be heaven.

Hi Jessica, I take ideas from viewers during the sleep meditation livestream on Monday evenings (10pm UK time) and then turn these ideas into a meditation (like this one) live on air and then I edit these, just to clean them up, remove background sounds etc and any errors. So, all of my sleep meditations are made for the viewers, using the ideas that those who decide to take part have suggested. The way I do the meditations and the way my brain works, I can't do this if someone gives me too much information, it has to be specific words. So any suggestions about the whole story to be told wouldn't get done. Someone suggesting I tell a story about a knight who goes in search of lost treasure through a frozen wasteland etc wouldn't get that story because that is essentially trying to tell me the story and so it would take me minutes to say 'a knight goes in search of lost treasure through a frozen wasteland and finds it'. What I would want is the suggestions of story elements and they need to be elements that I can do something with. So someone suggesting 'knight, treasure, frozen wasteland' might end up with one or all of these ideas included in the final meditation but it would be how I end up creating it and using those words within the story, not necessarily about a knight searching for treasure through a frozen wasteland, but I would aim to use these elements. Likewise, I won't use things I don't know etc. So when people say 'can you make the setting The Rockies' etc. I won't have an idea of what that would look, feel and sound like. Or someone saying 'can I make the setting Chicago', again, I wouldn't know enough about the setting to be able to do this and it is also too specific a setting. What I would want to know is the setting elements, so a busy city, or city with skyscapers, or valley, or mountains, or river, etc. These I would then be more likely to use within the meditation. For example, the suggestions for this specific meditation were: Black swan, full moon, sledgehammer, alternate universe, swing on a tree, superpowers, white rabbit, beaver, platypus, otter, cute dragon, magical, magical lake, dachshund, aquarium, fireflies, driving in a car, electric drill, forest, cycling, jellyfish, space, canal boat, microscope, stars, library, sea, rock, space, magic tree, sprites, reading by fire, eating a sandwich. So I then live on air, took these ideas and turned as many of them as I could into this healing sleep meditation you hear here. I rarely manage to use every idea, especially as I am doing this live without pausing etc, so I am trying to just briefly glance at the list I've written and see what I've not used yet and think about these things in context with where the meditation is going, where I am at with the meditation and what may or may not fit the meditation I am telling. People then join the livestreams often so that they can have input and if their idea isn't used in one meditation because I didn't manage to use it and they would love it to be in a meditation, then they can suggest it again. I always say, if I don't include something twice (assuming it is something I can use) then when suggesting it a third time, tell me it has been suggested for a couple of weeks and I will try to find a way of making sure it is used above other things in that third meditation. I've also explained that if the livestreams become too popular that I get far too many suggestions to use (I currently get about 40-50 ideas suggested per livestream) then I will have to just use what I can and would just not be able to use everything or to try to ensure I use the ideas I've not been able to use, because I may have ended up not able to use dozens of the ideas in any given stream. All I would be able to do is recommend suggesting those ideas again in future streams and pointing out I've not used the idea yet and I will always do my best. This is how to get a meditation that includes things you would like. I do all my meditations live on air with the ideas from the livestream I am doing at that time. So, any suggestions off that livestream don't end up in the meditations (like any suggestions emailed to me or put in video comments etc) because I get enough ideas from those suggesting them live that I can't then add in even more ideas suggested prior to the livestreams. Nearly all ideas suggested though are in one or more of my 200 or so sleep meditations. It is rare for an idea to be suggested that I haven't used before. This is why I make the playlists, so that some of the main ideas, like settings, first/third person, animals, etc, can easily be found and why I try to give quite detailed descriptions.

@DanJonesHypnosis

Yes, until March last year I used to create them during sleep story creation livestreams where viewers would suggest ideas in the chat and then I would create a story during the stream with the suggested ideas. In all my descriptions is a link to a video of me demonstrating how I do this with an actual client in front of an audience on a course I was teaching. This specific story was created during a livestream and incorporated 3 of the people in the live chat into the story as animals/characters
