I have lived many years in Omaha, and I travel to other cities from time to time. I always feel welcomed back with the warm jazz music from our homely airport, especially after experiencing homeless, traffic congestion, "unwashed" odors and locals telling me to be careful at night.

I have lived here my whole life born and raised, I'm 39 going on 40 in November. I love that Omaha is as I call it a little big city, being that it's big but not overwhelming and still small enough to where you can get around town anywhere in about 15-20 min depending on rush hour time. Def love calling it my home, seeing as my channel is all about things we do in the 402.

I've lived on west Oahu for the last 20 years, and before that I was born and raised in So. California. But after an upcoming divorce and giving half of everything to my wife and then getting full custody of my 3 kids, Omaha looks like a very nice place to land for my kids and I. It's kind of tough actually choosing between Sioux Falls and Omaha, actually. They both look like Paradise!

I got a job offer in FW currently from Omaha. Which city would you say you prefer and why? Thanks!
@ShowLSWH7 ай бұрын
@@orangemanbad Hey! Congrats on the job offer. Comparing Omaha and FW has been something I’ve been doing a lot of lately with my wife. We’re newly married and she’s from FW. For the time being we’re going to stay in FW because I’ll be finishing professional school with debt and Texas not having an income tax gives us a good chunk of change left to help pay down that debt to to help save at the beginning of our careers. So one big plus for a move down here is no state income tax! As a disclaimer as well, my wife and I don’t have kids or own a home yet, so property tax and schools aren’t something we’ve factored in yet. To make the comparison more succinct, Omaha is about 1/2 the size of Fort Worth, but I wouldn’t say is lacking in the way of restaurants, museums, concerts, and stuff to do. FW does have the historic stockyards which is the old west town part, and it’s cool but I’ve only gone twice in three years. FW definitely has the edge in Mexican, TexMex food, and BBQ. FW definitely has the edge in sports because you can go to all the Dallas teams fairly easily, but I’ve only been it two Mavs games and a Stars game in three years. Omaha is so much better when it comes to driving and traffic. DFW is a mess with traffic because it’s all highways and sprawl with limited mass transit. The angry Texan in a massive SUV tailgating you in the right lane because you’re only going 12 over the speed limit before passing you on the shoulder is a real thing. I live downtown and can walk to my job, and if you can live near where you work then that won’t be a big issue, but traffic here is much worse than Omaha. People are very friendly and welcoming, especially to transplants not from the west coast. This friendliness ends when it comes to driving though. Admittedly, my wife and I are planning on moving back to Omaha in 4-5 years because it’s smaller, homes are more affordable, and I love the direction downtown Omaha is going with more parks, transit options, and density. Put Briefly: A move from Omaha to FW means you’ll probably make more money, spend a lot more time in traffic, have access to great Mexican and BBQ, and have the ability to go to professional sports games. Personally, I think Omaha is probably better for families, but single or no kids, FW is probably a better place. Oh and weather. Summers here are terrible. It was 117 for the entire month of July. It’ll be 105 at 10pm or 5am. July-August are not fun. But fall here takes several months and is super nice. Winter also isn’t close to be as bad as Omaha. We get one ice storm every year and then tempts are mostly in the 50s and 60s. I hope some of that helps!

I don't understand why people think of the weather as a con. I just got back from Dallas in spring and it was an oven, it is miserably hot most of the year; most of downtown is not very walkable with giant parking lots. Also, we do not have the extreme weather of Minneapolis (in which their residents still learn to appreciate their weather) or even Calgary Edmonton Canada, Omaha has all 4 season and we learn to appreciate them. I've been to San Diego and Phoenix and there are some people that complain that their weather is too boring.
