"Why So Serious?" came out in 2013, and as others have probably mentioned, right before SHINee were to start promotions for the song, Jonghyun was in a car accident and he broke his nose. His face was all bruised up. So SM decided it would be better for him to take some time to heal. But instead of postponing their promotion schedule, including the already planned MV shoot -- which would have cost them a lot of money to do so, among other things -- SM decided to shoot the MV with only 4 members. So, in the MV Taemin covers Jonghyun's parts, including his lines in the song -- just like Taemin now covers most of the parts that probably would have been Jonghyun's in all of their new songs, such as the main high notes. Jonghyun was Taemin's vocal coach and he helped teach Taemin how to sing, so Taemin's voice matches Jonghyun's voice the most out of all the members, so that is why he is the one to take over the majority of Jonghyun's parts in SHINee's songs. However, if you listen to the studio recording from their album, you will hear that Jonghyun is part of the official track. It was a few weeks into their promotions before Jonghyun was back to promoting this song, but if you watch one of their last weeks of their live comeback performances or any of their concert performances of this song you will get to see him in the song. You really should check out a live performance because the song is even better with all 5 of their voices. Check out their perfromance from their SHINee World Concert V (SWC5) in Seoul from 2016, kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6CYfouErM6iipY. Fun fact: The choreography for this song is actually known as the zombie dance. If you look up the English translation of the lyrics you will see the song is a sort of zombie love story about being brought back to life by love. Also as others may have mentioned, the girl in this song is Irene from Red Velvet. She was in this MV even before Red Velvet debuted. And FYI, that's just a security guard, not the police. The guard heard some noise while making his rounds and came to check to see what's going on. ;p lol When the guard finally makes it to the room to see what is happening, the SHINee members have disappeared, so he is shocked because all he sees is Irene dancing all by herself in the room. He thinks all that commotion he heard was coming from one little girl listening to a CD. Little did he know that she was having a full on dance party with a group of cute zombie boys right before that. Because you appreciate their dancing, you should check out a video where SHINee does a tutorial and breaks down the choreography and teaches you the moves for "Why so Serious?", kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5iQm6ymbch4jck. SHINee's "Colorful" was their fourth song released in 2013 -- which, as indicated by the decorations on the cake, was their 5th anniversary -- and, yes, it's a song for the fans. It's a special holiday MV that was created to show how much appreciation the members and the fans have for each other. Everything you see in this MV happened in 2013. This was a special video that used clips from all different moments throughout that year, highlighting where the fans' support was particularly important. I think each of these clips were chosen to show that, it was the fans support during each of the examples used in this MV that made that year such a great year for them. So, you see them in several different concert venues and performances. Plus, you see them on the set of some of their most popular MVs, such as their "Dream Girl" MV, "Everybody" MV and "Why So Serious?"MV, which all came out in 2013. Plus, footage of some of their album cover and concert poster shoots. SHINee held special fansign events that filled whole stadiums, and they even took time to hang out with fans in between events when fans gathered outside of radio station studios, in the parking garages as they were going to their next interview or event, and at SHINee's hotels, etc. I think the clip with the fans standing in the long line that seemed to stretch clear down several blocks, was fans waiting for a fansign event. The whole MV is a tribute to Shawols. It's SHINee's way of saying, "Without our fans we would be nothing, " etc. It's us fans that make their life so colorful and in turn they make our lives colorful as well. :D And, where you saw the members dressed up in costumes, that was a clip of them dressed up for a fan event that also took place that year. They were one of the first Kpop groups to dress in full costume for Halloween and they are the group that really started the trend of wearing costumes on Halloween. In Korea Halloween really isn't a big deal normally and it's only been in the last few years that Koreans have started to embrace the western way of celebrating the day by dressing up and attending costume parties. But like everything SHINee does, they were one of the first and they are the reason why SM now holds one of the largest and most popular Halloween parties in Korea -- complete with a topnotch costume contest. This is why SHINee won Artist of the Year at the Melon Music Awards -- one of the most prestigious awards in the Kpop industry -- in 2013. The award wrapped up what was one of the busiest and most event packed years for SHINee.

Yes, in "Everybody" SHINee are supposed to be toy soldiers and they get their energy and power from the fans. So in the MV the "creepy" boy or robot, or whatever you want to call him is supposed to represent the fans who are using their energy to power the SHINee members up. The boy plugs in the power which sends the electricity to the grid on the floor where the members are laying and it activates Key, which then sets off a chain reaction that proceeds to activate the rest of the members. The fans power SHINee up with their energy and that's why in the beginning they wake up from the floor and in the end they run out of energy and they disengage and fall back down to the floor to wait for the fans to come and power them back up again. All the moves and everything you see, including the way they are dressed, is supposed to remind you of how a toy soldier would look and move. At one point you see Minho give the members an energy boost by pulling Key's pull string, winding Jonghyun's windup key, using a defibrillator to jumpstart Taemin and activating Onew by turning him on with a remote control. In the middle of the performance, where they come together and create that picture in their dance, they are supposed to look like an airplane, that's why Onew spins his arms round really fast like the propeller of a plane. The plane has to do with the fact that they are soldiers and they are depicting a scene from a battle during the Korean War. And the chess board is showing how they are soldiers engaged in battle as they advance across the chess board. It's a metaphor for how life is full of a series of moves and countermoves. Similar to the scene in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets where Harry, Ron and Hermione have to play the lifesize wizards chess game to get to the Chamber of Secrets. Yet again, SHINee are trendsetters, EDM Dubstep was a new style of music and sound when "Everybody" came out in 2013, and they introduced the genera to the Kpop industry. And combining that with popping, locking and robotics as part of the choreography was also new. And yes, 4 out of the 5 of them have major high notes in "Everybody." That is what makes SHINee so mind blowing. :D If you like this choreography, than you have to check out the dance practice for "Everybody," ​kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYbJaJuYpdJ5gsk. Make sure you click on the CC button so you can understand what they are saying at the beginning of the practice. This is one of SHINee's most iconic dance practices. And if you want to hear the Japanese version of "Everybody," check out their performance at their SHINee World Concert 2014 at the Tokyo Dome in Japan, kzbin.info/www/bejne/hpC5e5Kcocx4jNE. This is considered one of their most intense and difficult dances and yet they are able to dance just as hard as this, all while singing live and killing it the whole time. Fun fact: Every time they performed this song as part of a comeback stage performance their military-style outfits were a different color. They even had an aqua blue version that was the same color as their fan color. SHINee's comeback stage outfits are some of my favorite of any Kpop group, and they are different every time they perform, but they always stick to the theme of the song or album so it's fun to see every one of their performances just to see what their outfits look like each time. In your free time look up some comeback stage performances and see what I mean. "Married to the Music", "Dream Girl" and "Everybody" were some of my favorite eras.

I also see that you've never got to Everglow. Their video for First won best video award for 2021 at the AAA awards. But I would recommend their debut Bon Bon Chocolat.

"View" came out in 2015, and it is another one of the numerous songs that was wrote by Jonghyun. SHINee were actually the ones to introduce deep house style music to the Kpop industry with "View." "View" was even voted by the Korean public as one of the songs that needs to make a comeback in 2021, because it was so ahead of its time in 2015 that people didn't appreciate it for what it was. It has now become one of SHINee's most popular songs. Check out SHINee's appearance on the variety show MMTG part 1: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZqkpHaCpcyNiqs and part 2: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHiokqqqqbmiqrc when SHINee came on the show to discuss the popularity of "View" and talk about their legacy in the Kpop industry, etc. (They even performed "View" in their Beyond Live virtual concert last year as a special showcase for MMTG.). As you may know, Key is SM director of fashion, and he's often the one that designs SHINee's outfits for their MVs and concerts. So, the look and concept for this MV was all created by Key in collaboration with their stylists. He decided he wanted their looks to emulate skater-boy fashion and in order to accomplish that they actually went to the local markets and purchased the clothes for this MV and their comeback stage outfits right off the rack. Which had them setting their own trend yet again, and doing something that no one else was doing at the time. (Everything SHINee does is trendsetting, including their fashion. They are known for their huge influence on the fashion industry in Korea. SHINee is the group that is known for being the first to do almost everything. They start the trend and everyone else follows.) Fun fact: This MV was filmed in Thailand, so the actresses are all Thai. The funny thing is, the girls don't speak Korean.The SHINee members said they really didn't interact much with the girls when not filming because they couldn't communicate with them. If you look up the lyrics for "View," you will see that the song is about being mesmerized and sort of brainwashed by the beautiful view as seen within a dream.The MV seems to be about living in the dream of being like a normal group of young men hanging out with friends and having fun in the summer without anything to worry about. However, SHINee have been kidnapped by the girls, and although they end up having fun hanging out together, I think why we hear the police sirens at the end is because the police are coming to rescue SHINee. If you notice, even though they are having fun most of the time, whenever the girls get close to them, SHINee pushes them away, or looks away. So SHINee are not necessarily 100% OK with everything that is happening. And, if you want to see how much fun they had making the MV, you should check out the behind the scenes footage. Every other reactor has noted "Everybody" to be dubstep [sorry, I have no idea what that means!] - their vocals are incredible in this song and yes, the styling and the background are so clean. Did I already mention to you (too many times) this is one of my favorite SHINee songs? And I love the vibe of "View", also knowing Jjong wrote the lyrics and SM accepted his version of the song just made it all that much more SHINee, I love that!
