Redeeming God’s Name: Discovering the Biblical Storyline through an Honor-Shame Lens is a chronological bible study. The goal is for participants to be drawn into God’s story as recorded in Scripture and to find their view of the world reshaped by it. Though everyone has their own story to tell, the story of the Bible, like no other, gives answers to life’s most fundamental questions. It thus reframes the beauty in our individual and cultural stories in a coherent, though beautifully diverse, meta-narrative that brings new purpose and unified direction to life. Honor-Shame dynamics are culturally central for many Eastern cultures and are increasingly relevant in the Western world. The Bible was written in such a culture and bursts with insights into the honor of God, the shame of sinfulness, and the paradoxical road of humility that restores honor to God’s name, dignity to humans, and redemption to all creation.
