@ptitepeluche058 ай бұрын
What Peeta has done ? - he saved her entire family when Katniss was 11 yo - he made the Capitole people like her and got her sponsors - he distracted her so she doesn't die in the bloodbath - he teamed up with the Carrers to lure them away from her - he fought Cato after the tracker jacker incident to save Katniss (that's how he got injured in the first place) - he's the reason they changed the "one winner rule" - he made Katniss feel a little bit happy and safe in the arena - he gave her her first kiss where she felt stirring inside her chest - he fought Cato with her at the end To name a few things...
@lovequinn75218 ай бұрын
Most of those things won’t count in male’s perspective. Most male reactors side with Gale coz he’s a provider and takes care of Katniss’ family while she’s gone. Let’s give Gale that credit (full stop to avoid spoilers). And most of them have a hard time (like Katniss) to do the math on what Peeta is doing/contributing. They’re as emotionally constipated as Katniss and it’s almost painfully funny to watch. It’s in-line with logic that says housewives do nothing all day. Peeta’s just chilling in the mud for days - what men saw Peeta hiding out his remaining days wounded bc he saved Katniss from Cato - what women saw (including Katniss, the book’s perspective)
@ptitepeluche058 ай бұрын
@@lovequinn7521 i understand your view on this but i don't think i agree. I watched tons of reaction videos on the Hunger Games, and most of the reactors (male or female) like Peeta in the first movie and are definitely liking him more than Gale in the following ones. But based on the comments of this one (like "Peeta is crying so I prefer Gale" or "Cato is a bitch for crying"), it just doesn't seem like he takes the story seriously.
@lovequinn75218 ай бұрын
@@ptitepeluche05 I guess I watched more male reactors not liking him in the first movie, I even accept the slander from the ones that only watched the movies coz the movies did Peeta dirty. I account their change of tone (most of them) on the next reactions coz the comments usually question the reactors for not liking Peeta and saying that Gale is the worst. Giving them a hint of how the audience wants them to react which is crappy coz now it’s not genuine.

“Why is nothing happy in this book?” is the motto for the series lol
@prongs41377 ай бұрын
This book is literally about oppression and war and the atrocities that build up to it and how propaganda to uplift is laid side by side with propaganda to oppress and isnt glorified but its gritty reality is exposed. Of COURSE there's nothing happy in this book! (P. S. : There are glimmers of hapiness amidst all the misery.)
@bondvabond7 ай бұрын
@@prongs4137 And those glimmers are what makes it worth reading all the way through imo. Similar to how it's the bright, good things in this world that makes all the pain and anguish worth going through. The way we perceive the books and how we feel about some of Collins' writing choices (I'm never forgiving her for the end of the sewer sequence) is actually completely intentional in most places and masterfully done. Time and time again, we've shown how we are just like the thing being criticized and how ignorant we can be through how our fan culture and want for more plays out. These books, ESPECIALLY Mockingjay, got so much more flack than necessary when the YA craze was at its peak. I remember absolutely HATING MJ when it first came out and thinking the writer had a trauma kink or something and was completely put off by the series for years. I was 12 at the time. Reading it again for the second time at 21 though, I realised just how wrong I was about these books. They're wonderfully written and accomplish EXACTLY what Collins intended.

i watched your tiktok then immediately came over here to see your full reaction and u did not disappoint!!! it is very funny that you keep mentioning gale lol anyway i wanted to offer a theory about foxface!! most people theorize that foxface either ate the berries bc her strategy was only to eat foods other tributes ate, essentially testing to make sure anything she ate was safe, OR (this is the main theory) is she knew she wasn’t going to win and ate them on purpose. you can’t wait out your final competition, especially after they made the two tribute can win rule. she also was no match, physically, for anyone still in that arena. by eating those berries, she regained some of her own autonomy by choosing her own death. it wasn’t much, but i do see foxface’s death as a small act of rebellion. she refused to let her death be a spectacle. anyway! i loved your video and im looking forward to your reaction to catching fire ❤️

One of the few high school series that has that much unhappiness that I'm seriously considering rereading (since the first time I've read it was translated), because every time I stumble upon other people experiencing it or making a deep dive I just love it more and more. Also love when YA books hold up, it often shows the author's respect for an often dismissed audience. A bit sad Suzanne hasn't written much since then, I've only recently realized that she's also the author of another series I liked when I was younger, about Gregor and the Underland ❤
