Good to see you with a new kit, Charlie! So nice that’s a kit with more toms and an open tuning. I got a bit tired of the super dead sounds that so many drummers/producers favor these days. Funny enough, I’m experimenting with a closed front head, too!

the idea of hybrid shells wins i have birch maple birch with round overs , so mahogany poplar mahogany also could be considered winning on paper those 2 woods should give the wanted low end frequency’s, warmth fat punch sum dry dark also your saying maple re- enforcement rings with thin shells considered 3 types of wood all positive and quality's looked at in the best drum builds, so again on paper going back to a all maple kit ? so now as far as what can be obtained hear in USA again you have a winner because what is the best American wood profile its has to be a combination of woods 2 or more in sum fashion better choices are ones that exude low end frequency punch and warmth okay so now past this there is only one other direction to go with wood drums and that would be to use Australian woods and to do so you need to get your drum kit made in another country and imported into the USA only because a full Jarrah wood kit offers quality's like a mettle drum set the punch and volume the lows the fats the tones now there are only a few options one is a full stave kit Hendrix drums makes them in the USA a few American wood choices there boom-me like more volume then a normal kit however your kit you do have thin shells with re rings so yours could be compare able again quality's of high end builds one of the best stave builders is in Canada so its how much and if he could build a stave thin shelled Jarrah kit , AVA ,. last is going to be Evetts as they took over from what you could have gotten from the past Brady . . r.i.p… there are a few good used ones still left IF you play those sizes if not its get Evetts to make you one custom sized there shell process was different then Brady’s slight lee i think yet there still master builders the game is about getting the correct sizes it can also be about getting the best kit in the realm of high end drum kits 10 thousand dollar ones the better sounding kits are generally like i was saying multiple woods a few different woods sandwiched together exudes a pleasing sound another one are the stave kits ,. Hendrix i believe for extra can custom make a few different woods mahogany birch poplar maple stave sandwich there hear in the USA ,. a slightly better Stave kit is AVA as he offers multiple build options and most importantly seems to have mastered making round over bering edges something absolute nun of the other companies i have mentioned will do that i dont know if LudWig will do round overs say on your set up like that was or can be a option then YES i just thought like how your kit is they just do 45-s because all the wood LudWigs i ever had always had 45-s right but now a days they can do that ? if so then YES ,. now 45-s can sound good Brady Evetts use that theres are not as sharp have a little more head contact its just there using Australian timber one wood hear is the only instance were you can get away with one wood because Jarrah is the Daddy wood ,. its also going to be expensive to have one of these kits made and shipped to the USA custom sized its going to be Evetts only unless AVA can make one in Jarrah or its going to be pick up whats left of the Brady’s if not its going in reverse and thats going to be stave kits with American timbers then what you have and thats advanced building methods thin shells re rings multiple wood combinations and then bearing edges become a flavor choice but thats the ticket for a high end sound from there its head combinations maybe putting on the best posable hoops there are a lot of options if you had stellar make you all wood hoops for your kit then you would change the sound and feel drastically that becomes a option at the top of the drum set game all wood hoops ,. cheers ,.
