@@MoCheez its really different. We all know what a golden throat is. Its Nottingham special. It is the Name. And the grey 1823m driver. But with the lower lower notes of a minimoog you can Blog it away very quickly.... But the Talkstar is really good in that. Very powerfull and very save. But the price for is very expensive... i got it much cheaper from Fingazz at the beginning of the Talkstar Story... thats the reason for why I got it. And I have to say.... there is no other Talkbox which can compare with the Talkstar. Only some real Custom made Talkboxes with the perfekt pimped Crossovers in it. But not many people can build Talkboxes like that. If you know someone who own a Talkstar. Test it.... its really crazy. My custom boxes gettin very dusty now. By the way Cheesy you are one of the greatest Talkboxers we have on this Planet... you...and your Golden Throat and your amp.... you need no Talkstar. But... its very cool to play with it. It makes alot fun playin extremly low notes with alot Power and no risk that the driver will blow away.

You can actually make your own version of this using a decent-quality horn driver with wide frequency response (old skool vintage JBL etc), which is what Byron "Mr Talkbox" Chambers used to do, by his own admission. The Talkstar itself is actually very basic and primitive, once you understand the fundamentals of how talkboxes work. Some may consider it massively overpriced, in terms of materials and components used. However the money you pay when you buy it goes towards streamlining all the electronics into a neat little package that looks super-cool. The geeky tech nerds who managed to achieve this need to get paid for their efforts, and deservedly so!

He also unfairly didn't do the same adjustments to the Keyboard Prior to Playing the Banshee that he did for the TalkStar. So, the comparison test wasn't Good, and Fair!

That Talk Box is Highly Over Rated in Price! You can have the same amount of Fun with a Much Cheaper one! Plus Comparing the Banshee to the other Talk Box was Unfair because, if you noticed he made Frequency, and Volume Level, etc. Changes on the Keyboard Prior to playing out of the TalkStar! An Unfair Comparison! I Own the Banshee, and i can make it sound the Same! It's all about Keyboard Adjustments! You saw it! He did it! Like nobody caught that! I did. He's just Advertising! Why? Maybe just Happy!, although i do think it's the Best Looking Talk Box around. That i give Bigger Credit! Other than that you can do the Same with Proper Keyboard Adjustments. Watch the Videos out there. Most people Don't use the TalkStar! It Looks Cool!, but the Price is Pathetic!

Mr. No Weapon no. It may be pricey but the Banshee is meant mainly for guitars, that’s why they have a toggle switch like a guitar peddle. Example: Dr. Feel good by Mötley Crüe. The Talkstar was designed for Synths, you’ll get a clear sound and better lows without distortion

Nice video but when comparing (A-B testing) should use the same settings and E Q etc. on both Talkbox that are being compared. I prefer the custom Talkbox never was satisfied with the Roctron Banshee and the Dunlop MXR. Curious about the Talkstar though will get the opportunity to test one soon.

You are right Percy but the two talkbox have a very different input behaviors. I had to send a lot of signal to the banshee to have a decent volume so I had to go to saturation. With a sound weak in high frequency the Banshee still generated high frequencies through overdrive (same when you make a sine go through overdrive it enrish with high frequencies). When I took the same setting and plugged into the Talkstar the talkstar didnt saturated and gave a high fidelity restitution to the sound, that’s why I had to open the filter to get back the high frequencies that allows to modulate the sound to make vowels understandable. To fully get what I’m saying I recommend you to try two talkbox with the same synth preset, you’ll see that to have similar sounds to compare you will tweak your low pass filter and output of the synth. Take care and keep talkboxing ✌🏼
