On the lava level, if you are on the very left or right and toss 3 ropes and place a bomb on the idol, the lava will burn the ropes except for the tops and if you have several ropes or a jet pack you can escape.

I saw in another video that you can just skip dying from the lava in the Tide Pools by putting a rope in the top left corner and hanging there, then you use the jetpack to fly up and above and you can save your Ankh for later. That would have been perfect since you had a jetpack by that point. Probably wasn't known but I assume you do now Omg the game crashing at the end is so f'ing typical Spelunky.. seriously?
