I love that in most situations where it looked like you could take damage, you took damage. It goes to show that to be good at Spelunky doesn't mean to nail every whip, but to know when a risk is worth taking and when it isn't. People complain they can't get past the caves yet they try to kill every single mole lol.

In this type of run you can be a bit more careless, the game offers up HP in abundance and it’s not too difficult. With a run like my low%/no items runs I obviously need to be a lot more careful without the ability to regain HP.

8:20 Be careful doing this. I saw Isreal Blargh do this, and Olmec moved like, half a pixel more than he usually does, and he got crushed. Ruined a run destined for greatness.

It's actually 100% consistent if you set it up the way I do...I do know about the decreasing gap though. As long as you do the exact movement prior to the set up he will never crush you.

While killing hundun with eggplants is cool, spiked shoes make the fight trivial. The left head dies in 2 stomps and the right in three, I believe

its so weird seeing a spelunky 2 speedrun that isnt some crazy thing where they bring the eggplant crown, the ankh, qilin, true crown etc to cosmic ocean and now that i know this was made 3 years ago it makes sense why hes not doing stuff like olmec skip

You can lose it if it burns before you die. Dying means you keep everything on you at time of death, so if your Jetpack doesn't explode when it hits the lava before you die, you keep it.

Did Olmec work differently at some point? For me on PS4 he only shoots bombs on the second level if you're below him and he only does it three times before you have to make him fall. But you just let him shoot bombs non-stop whole standing on his head. I've had the game since launch and never seen that

Same. He shoots 3 sets of bombs and then you need to drop him before he will shoot bombs again.

Yes. People figured out at launch you could stand on his head and abuse him throwing the bombs so you didnt have to make him crush things. Good ol’ derek patched it out and made it so there are only 3 lots of bombs, and they only activate when you’re below olmec.

They act like hired hands, if they spot enemies nearby, they'll wake up and aggro.

Just trying to get through the game as quickly as possible is all. I would do this if it was any other run.

Yes, but it makes it a lot more annoying to have to juggle things, and you lose it on the second level of neo babylon anyway because you have to carry the ushabti.

That was cool. :D You get to throw eggplants when you hit that guy. xD What does the actualy guy do that you put to sleep each time? Just like a helper, attack and get killed? :P

yeah he usually acts like a hired hand which gets everyone involved killed, but he sleeps when you set him down.

@@ino145basically hired helps in 2, depending on the amount of levels you keep them alive for, will trust you more and will become more docile. A fully trained hired help will fall asleep instantly when you drop them. Eggplant child is basically a reskinned fully trained hired help from when you get him, and so that makes it easier to keep him alive long enough to get into the eggplant world.
