First thing he told, Girls are so beautiful and beautifully dressed. He also noticed all people look very happy and healthy. He said here old meets new and old Europe meets New America. I have lived and worked in three continents and 5 countries. Montreal is my final destination. What you see and enjoy in Montreal you will not anywhere. Happy life and look go hand in hand. Thank you for inserting a bit of history about the King's Daughters. These women were willing candidates and were, as stated in the video, selected vigorously for their intelligence, good health and homesteading skills as they were to face harsh conditions in the building of this new colony. Most impressive for those times, the King gave these women the right to accept or refuse marriage proposals. I presume that put all men on their best behavior when the women disembarked in New France. I believe these "Mothers of the Nation" speaks for the strength of character and forwardness Québécoise women are renowned for.

Québécois here… I think this is a generalization. Considering the mix of populations everywhere, and considering personal criteria of “beauty”, I would say there are beautiful people everywhere. Maybe the cute “Montreal” girl you just saw on the street is actually visiting from Toronto… How can you tell without asking each individual “good looking” person you met? HOWEVER, if the ambience of a city brings its people to be happy, courteous, free spirit and empathetic, then these city people will look more attractive to others. Nothing to do about genes but about the society in which they were brought. My opinion too…

@Desner013 жыл бұрын
Some people are born in Montreal and never even bother to learn French. You’ll be fine. Though learning the basic French words will help you a lot in your interactions, you will give a good impression with just bonjour, merci and s’il vous plaît.
@veroniquelauzon28012 ай бұрын
Learn at least the basic. In my view it is a question of respect. If I go to a place, even for a week, I want to be able to say, hello, thank you, please, I would like to have... , I'll pay with a credit card, etc. The English speakers typically don't do that but most of other people with a different language will. Definitely, the French Quebecois love to go to Cuba or Dominican republic, or Mexico, and visiting these places, you will hear many of them attempting to speak their best Spanish and may be surprised by the anglos who are not trying.

Montreal has a real estate problem. 75 % of buildings are made of wood and are not adapted to the cold weather. Montreal should take the example of Vienna, Austria where Housing is seen as a right, not a commodity (profit). In Montreal, everything, now is made for rich people and tourists, nothing is made for us the real contributors of the economy, the middle class workers.
