As someone whose friends live in Bukit Batok, whenever they want to hang out in the city, I see them take 106... A LOT. Friday was no exception, they took 106 to Anime Festival Asia (AFA).

The orchard trinity from BBT: 77, 106 and 174 Both are high demand, but 106 is the best managed, adding 3 door buses due to frequent high alighting activities and its extensive coverage helped the route to become one of the most popular and needy bus here in BBT. No one can manage a bus better than 106(174’s management by SBST is disgusting)

In the past, 106 was the only TIBS/SMRTB route in Serangoon, since 106 was part of the routes that was handed over from SBST in exchange for the bus op rights in Sengkang and Punggol. Given the demand of 106, the old Serangoon Interchange (the current site of Braddell Heights Community Club) was the only place in the Northeast to find articulated (bendy) buses after SBST took over bus ops in Sengkang and Punggol. This only existed till mid-2003, when 106 was amended away from Serangoon.
