I would run the overburden over a conveyor belt. There install a Metal detector with a air pressure unit, that blows out the rocks automatically when a detection is made. Like in Recycling facilities. It is easy to install and you dont have to check overburden by Hand.

@@ShortClips-1-0-1 It was constantly making noises. To the untrained, the noises might mean gold. To the trained, it was the wrong noise and it makes a different sound when it finds gold. Not everyone watching is "trained" to know the difference so once again, he was very likely doing it for the audience. That and it helps to add to the suspense for everyone who doesn't question every last little thing they see.

Flies (millions), mosquitos (millions at night), crawling things (massive numbers), lizards, snakes, spiders (some are huge, but the deadly spiders are all tiny) and that's why people don't normally go out there. It takes a lot of tolerance to work out there. I've lived there.

When they're detecting and get a hit, they pick up some of the rocks and put their hand over the detector to see if that sets it off. If it does in the first handful, they always dump the first handful. Could easily be a second nugget!
