Its actually so much funnier when you know the backstory. They had recieved hate mail from a random guy who was mad that they hadn't included anything about Jan Egelands birthday which was on the same day as one of their episodes. They responded by making this extremely over the top tribute which is hilarious!

Add to that the Oslo treaty plan hasn't worked, and that so far every removal of a dictator in the Middle East made things worse, not better.

This guy isn't a joke, I looked him up he's done some really amazing things in the name of protecting human rights, negotiating peace treaties and cease fires, as well as providing aid to victims of war and natural disasters. The wait is too long lol.I do love the fact that a lot of the lyrics may be silly or be making fun of something but they put so much effort into producing it and making the vocals good that it doesn't matter what they're singing about, even if it is about Yoghurt or Intolerance.

@shirazqaddoumi7320
@shirazqaddoumi7320 9 жыл бұрын
Eivind Ludviksen actually, "That moment when a song is written as a joke becomes one of your favorite" is completely incorrect, even moreso than the original. The original has the correct word in the wrong tense, but yours has an extra word. It should be "that moment when a song written as..." not IS written. If you did not mean "is" as part of the sentence, you meant to say "It [the correct word] is written," then you are still wrong because "is written" is a meaningless sentence fragment. I think the lesson here should be, refrain from correcting other people's grammar online - unless you are pointing out that a correction is in fact wrong and should never have been made. From your name it looks like English might be your second language, if so that is awesome and you know twice as many languages as most americans, (I know Spanish at least,) so be happy with that and don't bother saving internet grammar.

To give some niche background info behind the video, the concert footage is from 9th of June 2012 (9.6.2012) on the 'Viking Stadion', where they opened for the Norwegian Rock band mods. An offer they initially declined, but later accepted once they realized they could use the footage for the music video. The members on stage are, of course, the brothers themselves, along with Kato Ådland on guitar, Lars Bleiklie Devik on Keys, Espen Lien on Bass and the likely more recognizable Tarjei Strøm (of 'Ralph Myerz and the Jack Herren Band' and 'Datarock' fame) on drums.

Please, don't compare the two as if they pointed to the same direction. Egeland is genuinely working for peace, the other one is a warmonger stuck in a cold-war-mentality working for a cold-war-mentality money-laundering organization. Speaking of which, next year it's going to be interesting regarding all that failure.

It might not be aimed to be a serious song, but apposed to today's musicians who only sing about the size of their genitals and the amount of drugs they take, this song at least has something to say: It honors a great man who (although not as overdone as in the song) works as hard as he can to regain peace on this earth

I had to look him up. From wikipedia : Jan Egeland (born 12 September 1957) is a Norwegian politician, formerly of the Labour party. He has been the Secretary General of the Norwegian Refugee Council since August 2013. He was previously the Deputy Director of Human Rights Watch and the Director of Human Rights Watch Europe. Egeland formerly served as director of the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs and Under-Secretary-General of the UN. Egeland also holds a post as Professor II at the University of Stavanger.

I think it's because pop music is so weak nowadays that when The Fox hit mainstream, people believed it was for real, and they had confused feelings towards it. They found it funny, catchy, but were not willing to admit because they thought it was ridiculous.

What i like about this is that 200-300 years from now (assuming we last that long) some random kids on the internet will rediscover this video and be so damn curious about who this person was that they'll look him up. All the other politicians and world leaders will be relegated to literal history books and for the most part lost to history. But because this guy's done such a good job that comedians made an epic song about him that's not just them ripping into the politician (which face it, most deserve...), the kids'll either look him up, or bring it up with history teachers just out of curiousity.
