How and where am I supposed to save 800 litres of aged water ? My tank is big. I directly clean and put the tap water. The water quality here is nice . I mean I've been doing that for the past 3 years and everything has been fine till date. One of my discus laid eggs for the 1st time in my tank 😋

Hi.. Thank you... Ageing water is basically store the water for6a day or 2 before it goes into the aquarium... So if you are using tap water then you can use a dechlornating liquid in your storage tank and then use it... And daily water changes are not required for Discus... I have made a video on water conditioning and water change plumbing .. Please do have a look...

I hav a 180 litre tank with 8 discus.. i am changing roughly about 40 litres a day and getting a ph level of around 7... The tap water i am using is the water supplied by the government... so it gets stored for about a day in my household tank nyway... and from that tank it comes to the water supply taps of my house... This dechlorinating liquid that u r suggesting.. can i add this to the discus tank after water change? Since i am adding water from my common household general tank to the tank....Any brand u suggest? And will it b a better idea to add RO water? Thnx in advance..

I would not recommend that.. Because if there is any impurities in the tap water you are putting that directly into the tank... Which is not good.. But if you don't have a choice... Nothing can be done

You did mention about using aged water for water change , but you didn’t mention anything about the temperature of the aged water .. do you always ensure the temperature of the aged water to be same as that of your tank temperature..? Or if there is a variation , how much of a variation can the fishes tolerate ?

Online during winter you will have issues with temperature change... Because we will be using heaters in the tank... Also if we are doing 20 to 30 % water change there won't be much of temperature change... Only during 80 to 90 % water change we have to be careful and try and maintain same temperature

Bro the temperature was always 28 in this tank.. The first short was another tank... Little bit of variation is OK.. Come on man... Discus are not sooo sensitive... But good observation

Manjula Fernando.... Hi.. You need to be very careful about siphoning out water from the fry tank when they are really small .. So what I do is I siphon the water into a light color bucket.. So we can see if any fries have got sucked in.. Check the water in the bucket with torch light for sometime and then pour the water away..

Discus will always try and blend in with the background to a certain degree, you would find if you had a black background with black gravel then the fish would go a lot darker and less colourful but if you change just the gravel from black to normal stone then the fish will lighten up again. Most people will use the standard blue backgrounds because it is a middle of the road colour that makes the Discus show their best colours. Obviously if you only kept Blue Diamond Discus then you wouldn't have a white background as their colour wouldn't show very well, sorry for the long winded reply but I felt as this question needed answering properly
