I love this video! Kuuchuu camp has always been my favorite fish mans album, and language barrier is definitely a factor, as long season has very melodic dreamy singing, and kuuchuu camp has very direct lyrics and those who don’t understand Japanese might not like it as it is lyric heavy

I'm Canadian and I discovered Fishmans through RYM and decided to give Long Season a try. I loved the album, but after listening to Uchu Nippon Setagaya I don't understand why Long Season is considered to be their best album overseas. I thought Uchu Nippon Setagaya took the best aspects of Long Season and fleshed them out and improved on it. I think Uchu Nippon Setagaya is beautiful and I can't wait to check out the rest of Fishmans discography

As a Norwegian guy, hearing Fishmans for the first time in 2017 was what made me interested in Japanese music. I am a big Dream Pop fan so their style appealed a lot to me.

I'm so happy and pleasantly surprised you made an English channel. As a fan of Japanese music and classic rock, I really enjoy the content you make. (I also love your music and would love to be able to see you perform live one day >
I’m from the states and I can confirm that Japanese music - specifically Fishmans - has been pretty big here. I love Long Season because as you mentioned, it is very dream pop heavy, and the song format is super unique. Dream pop and new gaze are all the rage here, as well as classic shoegaze acts like MBV, Slowdive etc.

I'm Australian found you thorough this video. I have been listening to Fishmans since 2017. IMO Uchu Nippon Setagaya is their best album and in addition to Long Season and Kuchu Camp I regard Orange really highly too. I would love to hear your thoughts about other Japanese artists who have generated relatively large western audiences.
Please, please, please, put subtitles on your older videos I just discover your channel and it's great

I like the song "Night Cruising" included in "Air Camp". That psychedelic floating lo-fi sound is the best way to heal. ”空中キャンプ”に収録されている曲の”ナイトクルージング”が好き。あのサイケデリックな浮遊感のあるローファイサウンドには最高に癒やされる。

Even as a Japanese fan of your channel I really appreciate your sincere efforts to introduce (literally) hidden gems of Japan's music industry to overseas! I will learn the appeal of works you pick up here and analytical perspectives so that I can also be kind of an evangelist of J-rock once I'm abroad one day!
I think it's very great that we can see increasing number of English comments and some Japanese comments from those who are from overseas. That means this YT channel becomes worldwide. So it is a good opportunity to make this kind of movie mainly spoken by English.

Wow! I totally agree with your effort to send your message in English. I hope listeners of Fishmans abroad will react to this video and write their opinions. みのミュージック can be a huge platform for all music fans.
After all, LONG SEASON is almost instrumental, so I think it was accepted overseas.

Hi Mino, I love the content of your channel. I wanted to ask if you listened to post hardcore, math rock bands. I'd like for you to talk about Fugazi, Big Black and their influence on japanese musicians. And then, it would be AWESOME if you talked about 渋谷系 in Japan and then in the USA. On another note, I don't really have much respect for Fantano's opinion on music LOL.
