I’m disappointed in Piers’ lack of clarity here. Comparing fear of Islamists after over 40,000 terrorist attacks to white young men being shooters in schools is absurd. The color and sex of the shooters didn’t provide a support for their horrific acts. Over 40,000 terrorist attacks by Muslims have been because of their religion. Most people accept that the multitude of religions of the world should be respected. They are inherently benevolent. The text of the Quran and teachings of Islam are uniquely problematic and malevolent. Piers chooses to ignore that reality.

its uniquely problematic because the Quran we have today is not the original, its a political bastardization of a Christian heresy that was created by Abdul Malak sometime around 690AD, while the current Quran is from roughly 820-840AD by the Abbasid empire. I am no longer a fan of Sam Harris, but he has strong expertise about Islam having done a lot of work on this. He says basically that book is kind of like the Old Testament of the Bible... Full of really bad teachings. As he puts it, Christianity cleaned it up (Old Testament) with the Jesus story with very different teachings to smooth things over essentially and have a very different message. The Quran didn't do that. He says Muslims need to clean up their book by having a New Testament - but of course, that won't happen. Allmost all of islamic countries still live in very tribal cultures and communties that in a very contradictary way, despise any form of modernity. The concepts of 'shame' and 'honor' are still the very central pillars in islamic culture in a deeply toxic way. The importance of the 'ummah' leads to very problematic group-think and due to being and cultivating tribalism and primitivity (by a religion cast in stone) their cultures hardly evolve. It leads to societies and communities that hardly breed ingenuity. Hence true 'reason' is stimulated very little and they remain societies where everything happens on instinct and opportunism. Instruments with which you obviously do not produce functioning societies knowing how vulnerable and fragile they are.
