Bro ever heard of bhool bulaiyaa, bodyguard, drishyam 1 & 2. They are all malayalam remakes from Manichithrathazh, bodyguard and drishyam. Similarily a lot of tamil movies were also remaked into hindi - ghajini, ok jaanu, ekk deewana tha. If you think this movies were good in your language but in the orginial language these movies were way better. 1:03 maybe it's time bollywood look at other parts of India take inspiration and make new movies.

no, it is not on a roll. yes, this year, malayalam got box office results. and it is unprecedented. industry hits. on an average, malayalam is a laid back, lazy industry. out of 100 movies in a year. 10 of them are successes. 90% of these movies don't even deserve a theatrical release. if they put in a good work, they can even beat korean - iranian standards

Malayalam movies used to be regulars in Cannes Film festival. Tamil cinema doesn't come remotely close to Malayalam when it comes to artistic merit, especially in the past. Tamil cinema is improving though but Malayalam has long been India's best film industry.
