What should you spend on a moped project? I propose $100 - $200 for a non-exotic run of the mill moped. When you are all said and done, you have a $500-ish daily rider.

A good running stock Hobbit is fun. 70cc upgrade can only make it better!

We totally agree. $100 (or maybe $200 if you really love it), is the most you should spend on a non-runner. Some more info from us on that matter can be found here - detroitmopedworks.com/what-is-my-moped-worth/

Great score on the mopeds Travis. Can you tell me how to test a rectifier. And can you run a moped without a rectifier? Thank you.

Hi. I like your videos. I have subscribed. Do you take questions? I bought a 1980 Peugeot 102sp at an estate sale for $10. It has 350 miles on it. The husband passed away and the wife was moving and selling everything. They bought the bike in Italy when he was in the Air Force and brought it back home. She wasn't interested in it, so it sat, covered next to the house for years. It's in surprisingly good condition. The engine isn't locked up. It looks pretty good. I've restored several bigger bikes, but I don't know anything about these things. I've already pulled the engine out so I can clean it up. The first question is about the flywheel. I think the magnets may have lost their magnetism after 20+ years of sitting. I'm going to pull the flywheel to check that out. Do you know how much it might cost to buy a new one and where? Next, I noticed that a lot of your videos are about a Puch. Is that a nickname for Peugeot or is that another brand. Thank you for your helpful videos.

Hi Pat, you've got me - Peugeot is one brand I have never owned. MopedArmy.com and the Lovers of Peugeot Mopeds facebook groups are good places to start. I will say, it is unlikely the flywheel has lost magnetism. Sometimes you get lucky and all you have to do is clean the ignition points and the carb and you are on the road, sometimes it's more.

What can you use in place of a rectifier? Anyone know? Or where can you get one for a 1978 Indian? Thank you

So how much should you spend on a restoration of a moped?

I'm in Portland as well. So, how do you go about getting a title for the mopeds without spending a fortune? Bought mine without a title.
@SDsailor73 жыл бұрын
You go to the DMV and pay the one time registration. Here in Ca. Is only $28 so not expensive.
