Oh my goodness Mickey. You've hit the nail right on the head for me. Everything you have just said in seven minutes makes so much sense and puts things into complete perspective for me. I just wanted to thank you, for over the past 5 months I have been learning from your videos and now I have a daily structured rehearsal based on your tutorials.Living in Melbourne Australia there are no steel guitar tutors available. So thank you for you lessons, you both inspire and motivate me. Cheers marty

Great lesson, having played the dobro for 30 years before I took up PSG four years ago I had a head start on blocking, pick & palm, right hand position moving up the fret board was helpful. Reminds me of what I tell my guitar students (guitar lessons for combat vets Guitars4Vets), notes have three parts Birth, Breath and Death, emphasis on the Breath, thank you.

Fantastic lesson. This is exactly the information I've been looking for. I knew that there had to be some special magic going on with the right hand.

Now that is probably your best lesson yet. I know you've used the term pick blocking in some previous lessons, but this one really explains it. -Jim-

how do you pick block without getting a nasty vibration click from the string? I have not been able to do this with my lap steel....

Mickey this showed me several things. I'm always concerned with pick angles on the finger- this shows yours- not too radical, I think right hand techniques are not given good time- this was helpful. (I am guilty of a bad habit of anchoring my rt hand so I can bounce on the bridge- it's a bad habit I'lll work on) Thanks Bob

I just can't get my mind around palm blocking! In order to pick I need to raise my palm. You and others pick with the fingers kind of perpendicular with the strings. But for me, if I lower my palm to mute the strings, my fingers bend accordingly, more flat leaning on the strings. In other words, I can either pick or block! I don't know what to do!!
