Disease Detectives on the Frontlines: Empowering Women in India

Historically, India's Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP)- a two-year, full-time program- had few female trainees and low participation from certain states and regions. To address these challenges, CDC and the ICMR-NIE initiated a hybrid approach so it is easier for more women to participate. With this approach, trained epidemiologists are reaching more communities, which helps protect peoples health in India and across the entire region.
