The whole narration of the plot set to generic surf music was a really big style for movie trailers on cassette tapes in the early 90's. Even some of the top movies got the really cheezy treatment though it was typically comedy films. Matt and Trey have used it as a joke on a couple of occasions, notably the episode where they ripped on Rob Schneider films. Edited cause I commented prematurely: Hey, lol you got it, spot on. Also, Randy is Randy. Dude is a narcissist to the core so of course the things that affect his friends and family whether they involve him are not he's going to associate to. Just like in the Summer of Baseball where going to the games wasn't about watching his kid play and was all about getting into fights with other drunk dads for his own ego. Lastly, for a little bit of background as a Coloradan. The Avalanch and Redwings have got a rather nasty rivalry within the NHL. Not at all far-fetched to think that the Redwings would dunk on a bunch of toddlers via association to win the game.

@@letheas6175I feel for you, man. We watch comedy to temporarily escape the painful and unforgiving aspects of just being a mortal person. So when one of the funniest and silliest shows ever make a hockey spoof and focus half the ep on an innocent little boy riddled with cancer and then they end it in the cruelest, most upsetting way possible that the only way to process the cruelty is to let out a short, high pitched chuckle that's clearly a panicked defense mechanism, at least we can't accuse them of sticking to formula. So although this one makes me laugh on a good day, I can see how if you're going through an uncertain health scare, this can read like a sarcastic, meanspirited mockumentary. Good for you though for having some perspective and realising it's not a personal attack, just a pretty perverted subversion of the "Against all odds, the underdogs come out on top and our protagonist learns a uplifting, resonating lesson" trope. Something that's even more disturbing than the episode's ending. The fact that the kids were clearly voiced by actual little kids. They did an incredibly sad episode about a 5-year-old boy dying of cancer, with lines such as, "Why do I have to die? Why don't I get to grow up?" Did nobody think being involved in such a plot could be absolutely horrifying for small children, who likely didn't understand the weight of the subject matter?! Even A Serbian Film had better safeguarding with its one child actor.
