Something I’ve been noticing with each of these guides, is that one of the biggest reasons I think a lot of fans were turned off by this game, is just how much of it requires that you rethink your approach. Things like the martial training maps being unreliable even earlier on, or character stats mattering way more than item stats for instance. Reincarnation being something you want to do often, rather than just being something you do once the character is at max level, etc. Considering I’ve played all of these games at least once, have delved into post game in several of them. That I have also made it a habit to set the difficulty to max at the earliest possible opportunity, to get the most challenging experience out of it that’s possible; it’s very odd to play a game like 6 where the difficulty feels almost irrelevant in the first few chapters. I didn’t have to actually work on powering up characters until about mid chapter 2, and had set the difficulty to 20 immediately. This game is almost like a fever dream compared to other entries to me, and yet I can’t deny I find it’s lategame potential enticing.

I got this game a bit ago, but have not played it because I wanted to 100% Disgaea 5 first. Sadly Disgaea 5 broke me. After hours of grinding to get a sage to 20M stats. The last 3 carnage levels are just impossible unless you have a full squad of equally strong characters, and I just don't want to sink any more time like that. It made me question if I even wanted to play this game at all, but this video made all my worries go away. Now I feel I can start the game off right.

That sweet sweet framerate. Honestly enjoyed doing the D6 story on Switch but I was gritting my teeth on the appearance/performance at the end, so looking forward to really grinding my way up on PC tomorrow!

the difference between performance and graphics on console and PC is hard to notice early, but once you get into max speed settings and automation with DI you notice some bad hiccups every now and again, much improved over the switch though

I just wish it wasn't so trash when you want to edit it later, if you want to add in one of the if/thens it almost always is wrong, meaning you need to delete everything past it and re-do it. Wish you could just highlight and move around blocks of script, and place whatever you want in a blank square. Only needs to check if it's a valid arrangement when you try to save.

I hate that the feature everyone loves is the setting that makes you not have to play. Before you say quality of life improvement, you could remove the need to grind that much. I absolutely loved the disgaea series, La Pucille, Soul Nomad, etc. It took so long to muster the will to stomach this game. If 7 is anything like this one I'd have to be done with this series too. The 100k kills, the juice bar uses, the karma farming (there's no auto reincarnate settings), less than half the classes than the previous entry. The juice bar class/ weapon xp feature and printing evility scroll without character world were nice though.

@@DecimusEX from what I've seen Thiers more classes and it's back to whoever gets the kill gets the exp in d7 demo, the demonic intellect is in but the way to use it is changed since auto fight is different being it can only be used on already completed stages, don't about know item world tho.

Been a Disgaea fan since the very first one, but don't own a Switch & wasn't gonna get one for just this game. So I'm glad the game finally got out of timed exclusivity hell. I'm currently still kind of avoiding the full-on grind, because that would pretty much trivialize the main game. I still wanna get through that one w/o getting too OP & just powering through everything using 1 super-OP character (w/o messing about with cheat shop difficulty stars too much, but even normal 20 star could be cheased if you start farming EXP). I'm staying away from DLC characters too at first, just to experience the game as intended, getting new characters as intended. I do feel like in this game, you end up OP for the campaign pretty quickly w/o even grinding too much compared to previous games. Even with minimal grinding, say Rich Man's Plaza a few times to get some mana here & there gets me to OP territory too quick. I kind of remember doing some story grinding in older Disgaea games w/o getting too OP too quickly. Items/Equipment in this game has been completely trivialized though. I used to try 'n examine enemies in the story, try 'n find some that had a nice legendary weapon of some sort and try to farm some steals of that item. It used to actually matter. In this game, it's like none of the enemies get rare/legendaries and all enemies pack the exact same gear (I'm like a few chapters in, the magic school). Chapter relevant gear in and of itself also doesn't seem to stack up to even just a couple 100 levels. I never did item world in older games until at least regular rank 40 weapons showed up, but the chapter relevant gear was at least worth it in older games even w/o taking them up a bunch of levels. Now I'm still running old ass gear and mostly 'regular' rarity and it just doesn't matter all that much. Running out of SP also ain't a thing unless you level up skills, but that takes a whole bunch of mana, which you'd need to farm for, which would make you totally OP due to accompanying EXP & trivialize the whole game again (can't set EXP to 0 probably until you finish the main campaign). So yeah ... I feel that in raising everything up to 111, they totally broke the balance on this game. Like mentioned in the vid, equipment seems to actually be mostly irrelevant until perhaps the very very last super ultimate fight. And even w/o hearing that in this vid, I've already felt that after only a few chapters. I'm still liking my time with the game though. But do hope they get the balance of stats & equipment relevancy in order for the next one. Especially for the duration of the main campaign (which I really don't wanna just auto-fight through using a bunch of terribly OP characters, which were also auto-faught levels). I do enjoy seeing the content ... it'll certainly be useful, but probably once I finish the main campaign.

Martial 4 is the best stage I've found so far for grinding levels in the 1M-9M range. Downside is that neither Mao nor the Galaxy Mage can strictly solo it, so you need to have both active, but it's approximately as fast as Peaceful 5 (maybe 1.5-2x as long) and gets me 16-32B per completion rather than 1B for 14-5 at 2-stars (using your prinny squad strategy but being not yet able to fully unlock carnage mode).

Gonna slightly disagree on 2-3 "not being worth it". All I did was jack EXP upto 140% (highest I could set it at that point), turned animations off. Then I just randomly tried auto battle for the first time. And all my character's doubled their levels in 5 minutes. I didn't equip any evilities, or even increase the enemy strength. It's not true power leveling, but it makes it easier to just auto battle through the main game. Later on, stages like 6-5 and 11-5 can help you hit lv9999 in the main game (which is overkill, but helps for the postgame).

I just ordered the Complete Deluxe Edtion for PS4 of this game! ... As well as a second Disgaea 5 Launch Edition (I already have the download version, so for the artbook and soundtrack mostly and - 50 % of the normal price) ... Plus Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless Deluxe Edition - since it is out tomorrow in Europe... But I will receive it all saturday. Oh well, soon enough!

First, not sure if you ever saw my comment on one of your videos about the original Disgaea 6, but in one video, you stated that it's impossible to have a character do nothing unless you seal their abilities with Fetters and end a Train of Thought with a special skill that they won't be able to use. That's not true. A Train of Thought needs only end in a "Do What?" node. Even if it has a space to add another node after, it's still valid as a ToT-ender. So you can even end a ToT with "Move to target". Second, Combo Maker boosts normal attacks by 2, not 1, if its description is accurate. So with 4 Combo Makers, you won't be doing 5 normal attacks per attack; you'll be doing 9.

I really like the look of it, but it seems: a) very grindy, b) quite complicated, c) as a result of both a & b, I can see a lot of hours sunk in to a wrong path and hating myself? im confused, you said that the only person who gains exp is the one who kills the mobs then next line you said that everyone who participated in the fight gets the exp. so which one is true?

both are true, the person who does the killing is the one who takes advantage of the exp evilities, but the exp doesnt go to just him, it goes "into a pot" and everybody who was out in the field gets the exp even if they dont do anything from that pot

Arbitrary precision arithmetic is not difficult. We've been doing math on numbers too big to store natively the same way since the era of 8 bit systems. Hell, some languages like Python don't care what the bit width of your integer is and handle it automatically behind the scenes.
