VAR is at it again with another disgraceful decision in the Fulham vs Wolves game. Mark Goldbridge has his say on what is clearly a broken system and calls on fans of football to call it out.

It’s not VAR! It’s match officials. We need VAR as fans to show their incompetence!!
@TheDeathJesters13379 ай бұрын
@@Discordisnotagoodthing I can answer this one for you. - First Fulham penalty : Semedo gets a piece of the ball before making contact with the player and the contact is so minimal that it's clearly a dive. For me it is clear and obvious that the ref made a mistake and it should be overturned. We don't know how high the bar has to be for it to be overturned and that is a problem. It's too subjective and the goalposts get moved on a per decision basis it seems. Remember that for the next penalty. - Second Fulham penalty : Now I agree that this could be a penalty, albeit a very soft penalty. There was contact but once again the Fulham player went down theatrically which I believe made the ref's mind up not to give it. This is the important part of the whole process, the on field decision was no penalty. The problem is that VAR then contradicted their own standards and rules surrounding "clear and obvious" to find any way they could to give the penalty. If the same standards as the first penalty were applied, it shouldn't be given. The ref was asked to view the screen, why wasn't he for the other penalties in the game? Why wasn't he when Vinicius headbutted Kilman? The same rules weren't applied to this decision as all the others and that is why it is wrong. It felt like they were looking for every excuse to give the penalty despite my previous points. VAR was applied incorrectly in this situation. Side notes : Ream should've been sent off for a second yellow when he bought down Hwang for the Wolves penalty. He then stopped a cross for a tap in a few minutes later. And Vinicius not being shown red for a headbutt is straight up insanity, violent conduct is always a straight red. 4 big decisions went against Wolves in a single game and that is unacceptable.

@Qlicky9 ай бұрын
Absolutely. I love how drawing lines for 4-5 minutes to see if players left testicle is offside somehow ends up clear and obvious. But a foul in the box, a handball, or a studs up challenge is somehow open to debate and its NOT clear and obvious.
@joek50789 ай бұрын
@Qlicky Not only that, but they're drawing players off by millimeters with an image that is only approximately when the touch occurred. The frame rate is likely either 30fps or 60fps. If a player is timing their run, they can run 150 millimeters in 1/60th of a second, so there is a ton of error because video is nothing but a bunch of individual images with small gaps in between.
@Qlicky9 ай бұрын
@@joek5078 Agree. There was nothing wrong with the old rule where attacker would have been given advantage when the viewing/angle was inconclusive. Also the handball rule where a referee would deem that it was not deliberate, or the defender couldnt do anything about it. But no, a ball falling from the sky on someones arm, or hitting ones arm from a yard away is apparently clear and obvious now. However, fouling, shirt pulling and pushing players out of balance in the box is somehow not. It;s getting ridiculous.

ye and when we see on the screen a blatant offside thats been called on and results a win for a team that shouldnt have won fans will not bring up VAR and happily accept this decision will they? the grass isnt always greener on the other side, removing VAR only excuses refs incompetency and/or corruption. we need a reform of how referring works, not removing VAR. imagine maradonas handball vs england happening now and the refs misses it because theres no VAR, imagine the outrage, how many will call for a return for VAR etc. and you actually think fans will be ok with it because 'muh momentum'. somehow VAR magically works fine for other leagues with little to no controversies yet in england its total dogsht, i wonder why?

"not enough contact" is still too subjective. VAR can call the ref to the monitor - but when this happens there appears to be a reluctance to stick with the original decision. So in the Gomes "foul" where his thigh brushed against a Fulham player running across the front of him - we say "not enough contact" - ref agreed initially - gets called to the monitor so we all know when that happens it's getting over turned. This is the part that needs to change. A ref needs to be brave enough to say, "nah, still don't think that's a penalty". Have we ever seen a ref go to the monitor and not be influenced to change his mind? I don't think we have??

If they are taking minutes to make a decision watch out they don't start putting adverts on while you wait........watch this space !

VAR is calling the shorts...What Do They Mean By "No Conclusive Evidence". What Are They Really Doing On The Pitch ???

VAR needs to go! It’s ruining my beautiful game! I want us talking about how good the goals were! Not silly referee decisions 😢

Get rid of it.

I've supported liverpool for years, though since VAR and how it is being used, my interest in the premier league has dropped, and no longer celebrate goals like I used to. At this point I mainly check the scores online at the end of the day and watch the occasional highlights of a match. Personally I watch more jleague matches now and am better off for it :) but that's just me.

The only thing that's evident is that developing players need to learn how to dive.

I don't agree about removing VAR, but I think you're right about the consistency of the incompetence of the officials and their leaders. Appaling decisions in every game either by the referees or by the VAR teams. But the problem is not VAR. It's VAR on the hands of corrupt and incompetent persons.

Switch it off. It's not helping anyone, apart from Howard Webb and Michael Owen

It feels like the refs have it in for wolves this season

Premier league referees have stopped refereeing and expect var to get them out of a hole instead var is creating untold drama and getting that wrong 😂

Sadly VAR instead of providing two chances to get the decisions right is providing two chances to get it wrong; until they train referees properly it should probably just be replaced with automated offside checks
