Ziegler really was the ultimate downfall of this project... Not only for disparaging the old film which was the cornerstone of all of Disney. Also because the woman made sure to be seen as the more unbearable, arrogant, smug, condescending and entitled brat Hollywood has seen, and that says a lot. The thing is that just like Brie Larson prove with movies like Captain Marvel and the Marvels, is that when you are this toxic no one wants to see your movies specially when they are terrible ideas from get go.

@@jorgesaito461 I'm no Rand fan but Vidor's masterful visual command and Neal being awesome as per usual had been totally worth it. Something I was always *told* would be impossible in an older film. Go figure, right? She's superb in A Face in the Crowd. Although Griffith is so great in that one, she's my favorite part.
@jorgesaito461
@jorgesaito461 Ай бұрын
@@bespectacledheroine7292 I agree with you, The Fountainhead's story is not that great, but the movie works because of Grant and Neal performances. A Face in the Crowd is simply great. Talking about an Elia Kazan's movie, his first movie "A tree grows in Brooklyn" has a strong female character. I love that movie! In "Mr Smith Goes to Washington" there is James Stewart, but Jean Arthur's character is so important to the story. The movie was made in 1939... One big example of a strong woman in cinema I remember is Fellini's 1957 "Nights of Cabiria". Life didn't treat Cabiria well, but in the end she decided to face it with a smile in her face. That movie left a strong impression on me. So, there are many examples of strong women in cinema that Zegler probably never heard of. LOL

I teach ESL to non-American children. I showed them this movie trailer at the end of class just to see what their reaction would be. Half of them looked bored out of their mind. The other half looked disturbed by the bad CGI. No one was excited to see this movie, and they are well aware what Snow White and Disney are. They still meme Willy Wonka and the Oompa Loompa song and that movie came out almost a year ago. So while it's just one small sample size, an entire classroom of children, ages 9 to 11, have 100% rejected this movie's trailer.

The reality of Hollywood is that there is about enough room for one super successful dwarven actor. Peter Dinklage took that from Warwick Davis. If Disney would have put together a cast of seven dwarven actors, chances were high they would find a charismatic one that replaces Peter Dinklage on at the top. It was very transparent back then, so Disney only followed through, because they wanted something else and now they are stuck with expensive cgi instead of human charisma. It’s very sad, because this movie would have been a career path for seven actors with a disability.

It really helped that they did acknowledge the fans to be right. While Disney tries to course correct, it’s always in this „the fans are toxic and everything we do is perfect“ way. Disney never acknowledges that they were wrong to begin with. The effect this has is that everybody understands that Disney doesn’t want to change and only does so due to immense losses. While the Sonic movie producers seemingly didn’t want an abomination of a Sonic and reacted to fan feedback. It makes them look honest, while Disney, even if it course corrects, always looks vile.

The one live action remake they did well was Cinderella. Instead of fighting the romance, they deepened it. The world building, set design and costumes were beautiful. The actress and script captured the sweet strength of the main character. The villain was made believable but not let off the hook or turned into the “real victim.” Cinderella even earned her fairy godmother with an act of kindness. Great adaptation. After time again I’ve taken my children, my grandchildren, and my great grandchildren to see Disney movies, and to Disney World but I will no longer watch and neither will they they lost me with the little mermaid, now they really lost me. Goodbye, Disney.

I love the way they talk about the 1930's cartoon as the "original." The folktale was, in fact, the first telling of this classic tale.

It's a Disney animation with human insertions, it's not a live action, so it doesn't make sense to demand the presence of dwarf actors. And Snow White is a young woman as beautiful as the villain, but she's younger, so she's even prettier. Discussing this is stating the obvious.

What disney seems to forget is that there's a difference between a remake and a "reimagining". People won't mind the first, are likely to detest the other.

There are so many stories that have never been adapted into a movie. I would much rather see Disney make one of those, instead of remaking, rebooting or making a sequel or prequel to their already existing properties.

IMHO with the attitude Zeigler gave about Snow White and how she acted toward the original storyline.. she did this to herself. She basically went on a shaming spree of the source material and acted like everything about it was wrong and needed to be changed. No dwarves, No prince, No letting the dwarves help her or anyone else because strong woman. She even says the prince was a creepy stalker which is WEIRD! weird!! Snow White was about love at first sight. The prince and Snow White saw eachother one day and fell madly in love. When he gets to see her again and she is in 'eternal sleep' from the apple.. he pays his respects to her by giving her a kiss he wanted to give her when he first saw her. Its a magical beautiful story about working hard, trust, bettering yourself, finding independence within dependency, and TRUE LOVE.

I think if they led with this trailer and told Rachel Zegler to shut the hell up with her hot takes this would not have been ratioed as hard as this. I also see that Treasure Planet live-action remake (for The Modern Audience[tm]): The story of Jane Hawkins (Amandla Stenberg), a teenage girl with a peg leg and a side-shave haircut (pronouns they/them). Escaping from a slaver ship by cutting off their own leg, Jane sets out to find the Treasure Planet where Captain Flint (Tobin Bell) stashes his loot.

When I saw the trailer something bothered me. I didn't know what it was until I saw a video made with AI and there I felt the same when I saw the Snow White trailer. The artificial and dull colors, that atmosphere that makes me uncomfortable and tells me that I'm watching something that is not real in any way. I dare to say that the whole trailer is generated by AI and that many of the scenes are not going to appear in the movie. This may be the first movie where a large part of the film is AI-generated or AI-assisted.

Many normies know about this 💩 now. It’s in the cultural zeitgeist. If they didn’t know before Bud Light and Walmart then they sure know now. Enough of them for it to hurt Disney. People are going to see Deadpool and Wolverine and skipping the 🗑️. They know what’s up. Snow White is DOA.

There will probably be some early audience, simply because parents are often looking for something "safe" to take children to, and Disney still has some semblance of that reputation. But those people will tell other families what they saw, and those who have been watching the mess unfold on the 'Net will render their opinions as well. And unless Disney has pulled a real miracle out of their expensive edit... This is going to make the 2023 "Little Mermaid" look like "Avengers: Endgame", in terms of box-office success.

Forget a live action remake of The Black Cauldron, they should just re-release the original. Modern kids who consider creepy pastas boring and toddlers who are terrified of the Cartoon Cat from Siren Head won't be disturbed by Disney Skeletor. Instead, they could make it their own cult classic and give Disney a chance to make some zombie and pig toys to sell to a fresh new market. And maybe then Elonwy will finally be added to the Disney Princess line of toys. The reason the original film flopped was because Disney was the "family friendly" company and that movie was too dark and potentially satanic. Today Disney is the anti-family and anti-male company so a movie where the main character is a pale skinned male who fails miserably and is cruel to a "quirky creature of minority that might be a dog" and the heroine is a female pig should suit their modern ideology perfectly, with anti-religious imagery to emphasize how truly woke they are. That move was bad for old Disney. It is absolutely perfect for new Disney. Release it again, and celebrate how it was "before its time" instead of leaving it in the vault. Then they can honestly say they aren't trying to defecate on everything Walt Disney put his name to. They can reclaim a 'classic movie' to show that they are still holding true to their roots. And, frankly, I think it's sad how many middle aged people never saw this movie when it came out because parents were scared of the dark imagery. Kids loved Labyrinth for a reason. The Black Cauldron wasn't any worse, it was just Disney being too timid to own what they made. Modern Disney doesn't have that problem. They own their feces and their gems equally.
