I'm really surpirsed nobody did the math on this but here it goes (This ignores mulligans and assumes you keep the coin to play Barnes. Well when you play this kind of deck you're not concerned with winrate and just losing on the spot, if anything you should be used to it. So the chances of getting a barnes, prep, eviscerate, shadow strike etc, is much more in your favour and worth it if you're playing an "All or Nothing" deck :D

The whole point of this is Y'shaarj. Barnes summons a copy of it and the copy summons the original one. Then the original one and the copy will summon the ones you added through gang up. He is basically the key monster. no replacements.

Yeah, this is a combo deck, and Y'shaarj is a key combo card. Replacing combo cards can only be done by cards with an (almost) identical effect. Since Y'shaarj is unique in it's kind of effect, especially in this deck, it is impossible to replace it.

i actually made this exact (almost) deck the other day, i was in such a rush to just make it and play with it and was quite excited to have the PERFECT hand of (barnes, prep, gang up, coin and a few others i dont remember) by turn three in my FIRST game! i know right? problem was, i played coin barnes, and was freaking out that i only noticed once i ended my turn and nothing was pulled by yshaarj that, in the rush of making the deck, i quickly grabbed yogg instead of yshaarj. actually ended up playing for a while, enough to actually get a yogg, shadowstep into yogg the next turn. still lost though, but was a fun experince of my everlasting stupidity.

well, there is a 1 in 4 chance of getting a yshaarj in ur hand, but also 1 in 4 for barnes, after that 7 draw 2 or 3 more cards depending on your side, coin or no, which means you basically have a 30% chance of getting barnes and a 10% chance of getting ysharj... 30 - (10% of 30)= 27% ofc u dont have 30 cards anymore at that point so the chance of drawing them increases, but i dont want to do the math xD too much work. anyways, in the end you have a 26% to 29% chance of pulling it off on turn 3, after that u have a 50/50 chance of pulling it off, 50% of (100 - 27.5) = 36.25% 36.25 + 27.5% = 63.75%.... there is also a chance of your opponent having an answer soooo..... should be about 60% chance.... I'm surprised how many people have not realized by now that draws in Hearthstone are not entirely random. There is an algorithm in place that almost always puts your highest mana costing card in the top half of your deck. I say almost because there is a very small chance that your highest mana card(s) will be on bottom half. The algorithm also uses card rarity ratio to determine draw chance, as in there is a very high chance of getting a legendary in your starting hand/top half of deck that is even higher the more mana it cost and depends on the number of legendaries in deck as well. Therefor, at the part where you said you had 1 out of 23 chances of getting Y'shaarj was actually closer to 1 out of 8. You can test this algorithm out yourself. The chance of the 10 mana cost legendary card being in top half of deck is higher the bigger the gap is between the 10 cost card and the next lowest man cost. Anyone that has played Hearthstone long enough should of noticed this pattern of almost always getting your highest cost minion in either starting hand or at least in first half of deck. You aren't imagining things. It's an intentional part of the design.

Blake Stanley No, this was tested exstensively, which I was completely unaware of until one day I went searching, plus I noticed it in every Hearthstone streamer/KZbinr I've watched over the past couple years. And it's not rigged exactly because there is still a chance there. The algorithm is just conditional based on factors unseen by the player. I took this research farther and even talked to programmers that all say the same thing, that an algorithm cannot ever truly be random. It's impossible. Algorithms have to be carefully planned and setup based on certain criteria that depends on what the algorithm is for and what the programmer wants to do with it. All a programmer can do is try to give the illusion of randomness the best they can by setting these conditions/criteria that determine the behavior/output of the algorithm. They can create variables, but Hearthstone does not have that many variables to work with. Just card rarity, mana cost, card type, key words on the cards, and I think that's it. Computers cannot generate random numbers, but they can have so many variables that you can never tell it isn't random. Every function is based on an algorithm, and algorithms are never truly random. I've played TCGs/CCGs most of my life and I only noticed these patterns when I play an online TCG/CCG. I never notice them in physical TCG/CCG, which I now of course know why. Shuffling and drawing in a physical TCG/CCG is truly random.

There are a lot of misconceptions about how computer RNGs work in your explanation. First of all, a computer is not limited to the variables of the game to seed the RNG with. It can use the time. Furthermore, every hearthstone game is adjucated by a server. A server can actually produce truly random numbers if it has a built in hardware randomness source.

I actually crunched the numbers on these, and the chance to draw Barnes but NOT draw Y'Sharraj by turn 4, if you're going first is 24.84% If you're going second, it raises to 26.6% So a bit lower than 30%
