We had a bad experience on sky,. As you know the roads are very tight. We was heading out of Portree I've been driving my motorhome how for over 3 years now and I know what I can and can't get thou. But!! We met Hired out motorhome coiming down into Portree that was going at speed... I was on the kerb on my side of the road and he hit us so hard, it smashed our mirror with protective cover to bits, also hit the side of of motorhome..... He never stopped,.. To say I was mad is an understatement. I think it's about time the hire companies give out proper training....

Oh no, that must’ve been horrendous , did you have a Dashcam , ? very little respect at all, hope the damage wasn’t too much and didn’t ruin your trip, they must’ve known they’d done it, training or a decent handover is a good idea , doubt it’ll change much unfortunately 😢

This is the problem with so called wild camping ,free park ups people just don’t want to pay, we live in the surrey hills every place dumped toilet waste and rubbish to be honest getting fed up with it totally wrong,ens grump over !!!

Hi Guys. Just catching up with your adventures. Sadly over the years we have found an increasing amount of dumped rubbish and waste where we park up at nights during our adventures. Nine times out of ten we have to do a rubbish clear up on arrival at a wild park up. Sadly I don't think it's the fact that the van renters don't know how to correctly dispose of any kind of waste, it's just that they don't care. Another poster commented that it may be to do with the free 'wild camping' park ups , and people just don't want to pay. Again, I don't think that has a lot to do with it, it's just some people's attitude. We stay in 'wild' park ups, on campsites, at pub stops, and have found people leaving rubbish, and not clearing up after their dogs in all of these locations. Some people will always be the same however you try and educate them, and sadly these days your likely to get a torrent of abuse if you give any advice. We're all just going to have to be voluntary campervan rangers, and give advice if your happy to do so, and as you say, video/photograph offences and offenders and give this evidence to the police and/ or local authorities. The bottom line is, if this behaviour continues, we will eventually lose some of these beautiful places to stay and relax in. We certainly enjoyed the Islands , and the abundance of park ups was amazing, the small part of the NC route we skirted was becoming saturated , so glad we avoided it .. we found this around the places we go near us here in the south west as well as up north nc500 and skye so busy with vans outer Hebrides are amazing place but we see bits of it over there to.we had vans over 20 years now and this is get more common waste left .You see places you used to go been blocked of take a trip to barmouth walse and see all the no camper sign go up bit of the nc500 have do the same as well as skye .look after it or loss it but some just dont care

We travelled through the outer Hebrides in 2017 but didn’t get to Lewis and Harris. They look so lovely. We came back via Skye and even then (late Sept 2017) we found it busy. Definitely need to get back up to Scotland though. Disappointing behaviour by some 🤬

We haven't learnt as a human race yet young Redders's and there are still people who don't have the capacity to care about anyone else , and yes , it had to be mentioned . We did the 500 a couple of years ago and I spent an hour cleaning up a lay-by with a bin in it . Great vlog you two . What cracking beaches , as good as anywhere you'll see . We live in a small touristic town on the Arcachon Basin and unfortunately we have the same problem when the tourists arrive, our mayor has installed 2 self cleaning toilets on the beachfront and at the oyster port but strangely folks seem to want to do their business in the bushes along the coastal walk or empty their cassettes there ( 4kms away there's a designated place for that ). It's every nationality, and I bet a pound to a penny they wouldn't do it in there hometown . I'm not even go to get into dog dump, there's none until tourist season.

I'm not doing the NC500 but have covered some of it on the way to Orkney. It's only May and there are SO many MoHos and campervans. What it's going to be like in July and August? I pulled into a layby on the A9 to take a phone call and someone had emptied their waste. 😠

I don’t think Scotland realised what a monster they would create, the idea was great to bring more tourists up to the highlands and spend some money, but we have seen sports cars, motorcycles all flying round in three days and motorhomes especially the rentals not having enough facilities available and also taking everything with them in case there aren’t any shops 😂 as you say it is getting better and ( proper ) motorhomers know how to behave, we were going up there before it was even thought of as a route now we tend to avoid. Despite this looks like you are having an amazing time . Enjoy

I don’t think for one minute that it’s regular motorhomers that leave a mess, I think we’re all educated in how to dispose of our waste but sadly we get blamed for other people, I’ve done the NC500 and I was amazed at how many cars were parked up in the middle of nowhere, maybe they had a toilet in the boot.

We always carry a spare cartridge on our roof alongside our spare tyre. There's no excuse to just dump. What u would say though is that "package" wasn't from a camper/motorhome toilet. The chemicals or eco chemical we use breaks everything down to liquid. It looked like that mess was from a hiker or vehicle without facilities, including the barbecue area. It's a shame motorhomers are getting blamed for this bad behaviour.

The scenery is just breathtaking and you could be mistaken for being in the Mediterranean! Really good to see the girls enjoying themselves too. Sad to see so much plastic but it's a sign of the times unfortunately! It's not surprising that locals do not want motorhomes when you see such inconsiderate behaviour. I am Scottish, have a caravan and although I would love to see the sites of the nc500, I wouldn’t go near it now. I love your videos but it makes me so angry that others are so disrespectful of our beautiful country and for many it is just a tick list they want to complete and are not really interested flora or fauna.

Its just lazy people and you will find that if they have dog's they're the one's that don't pick up their dog's 💩 either, the penalties when caught need to be so severe that it will make people think twice before dumping anything.
