Outhouses used lime to control the stench. And it kept from having to move the outhouse. I used them as a kid. And I am 56 years old. So they aren't that outdated.

Im 70 , been using outhouses for about 50 years. I went out there last winter at ten below zero,...I don't even flinch. This year I dug up poo from the last outhouse location, composted in the ground for 5 years. pure gold. Growing my tomatoes in it now. That's my idea of recycling
