I’ve been on a couple of these rides before, and my god are they amazing, one of my favourite flat rides nowadays. These rides perfectly for filled my childhood fantasy of what it would be like to ride in a tornado without having to worry about the dangers they usually pose. The combination of the wind rushing past my face and the feeling of weightlessness I get at the top of each spike is enough to give me the sensation of being lifted up and spun by a tornado.

@@ENSŌ_queen Thanks but no thanks, don’t fancy going upside down on a spinning coaster. I already prefer coasters that are about height and speed rather than inversions. If Mack built a launched spinning coaster with no inversions though, then yeah, I’d definitely ride it.

Welcome Back, FROTW!!! Seaside Heights NJ has a "Disk-O" on Casino Pier. I've probably ridden it at some point, but not recently; in general, any 'pendulum' ride can set me off, sickness-wise. (Sad aside: there used to be a "Surfs Up" at the Funtown Pier ... back when there *was* a Funtown Pier. Whatever Superstorm Sandy didn't destroy, the fire the following year finished off.) I've never seen a "Mega-Disk-O" 'round my parts. I've probably give it a shot if I saw one. (I never did take advantage of riding the "Half Pipe" at the Mall of America when I had the chance; it's a small regret.) "Rockin' Tugs" are fairly ubiquitous; I think there's a caterpillar-themed version at Sesame Place (very close to where I live). I remember similar-but-not-quite ride that looked like a barn, which made appearances at a carnival that no longer comes by where I am. Again, love seeing FROTW return!

I think zierer is another company that competes with the zamperla disk o'. The kontiki ride at Marineland in Niagara falls is a zierer. I might be able to help with information if you want to make a video.

I *really* love riding these, I'm like the exact correct height and size for the seats and it's one of the few rides where I feel comfortable throwing my hands up (or used to, they tell you to hold onto the bullbar these days XD). A lot of ride seats are too wide for me, so even when I'm "secure" I'm still bouncing from side to side, which is not a problem on a saddle seat where I can just hold myself in place with my legs. It's sad to me that they're less popular, and are a lot more dependent on how wide your hips and long your legs are, because I would love for more sit-down rides to have saddle seats. I also really enjoy the ride experience on these, it's not too forceful but it's very nice on a hot day for cooling off.

I'm really curious watching this... What happens if the ride goes too high and bumps those red bumpers? Does it E-stop the ride, or does it just let the computer know it's going to high and slow it down?
@okumuracosplay83163 жыл бұрын
I worked the hurricane force 5 ride at six flags fiesta Texas. When it hits those red stoppers and tells the sensors to slow down like you said normally because it is accelerating too fast. Of course it rained one of those days really hard and the sensors were wet and it turned into a nightmare. It kept on hitting those red stoppers and screeching really hard until it stopped after losing momentum after 5 minutes. Luckily no one was on and it was just a test cycle. It sounded like someone was peeling out every time it rocked back and forth on the friction track with its wheels. These really can’t work in the rain.

I'm trying to remember something. It's a type of ride found mainly in Europe. You get in a small boat and go down a slide before jumping off a ramp into the water. I've ridden all three models of this ride - for me, the traditional halfpipe seemed more intense than the coaster. Also, a smaller gondola could make a Mega Disk'O more intense, because it accelerates faster than a larger disk. The Mega Disk'O at Didiland (France) with a smaller gondola was pretty intense - I almost lost my cap on it :D Generally, I like Disk'O rides - they are suitable for families and children, but they are also not too boring!

1. What percentage of ride operators are doing it as a summer job vs serious operators (like you) that have knowledge & passion oozing out of every brain cell and coursing through your veins? 2. How are operators interviewed/hired for a ride with complex safety features as you described? 3. As far as tragedies, were they mostly engineering/taking-short-cut errors or was it the lack of training and hiring the wrong person for the job?

It’s people not passing their certification tests and people kissing ass to learn any ride and such. I dealt with it when I took a test and they let the other person pass because it was a error all of a sudden, but I had to retake it and not them. It was crazy. Person ended up getting decertification because they started the train with not everyone sitting down and someone’s kid fell off the train and got really injured. This happened at six flags fiesta Texas btw with the fiesta Texas railroad in crack axle canyon.
