Not coming from a farming community I’m just realistically appreciating the massive amount of obligation hardship that comes with running a successful business but I’m certainly impressed with you and your family willingness to provide viewers with a personal perspective and your personal opinions immediately weather situations are difficult or otherwise it’s an amazing lifetime commitment and a understandable response when the situations go southeast I think that farming is all that it’s meant to be and more and they breed a very dangerously active individuals that are the backbone of the community in any state of USA thanks Grayce for sharing your candid thoughts and daily working moments it was a blast

Drove that exact same tractor and disc,pulling a roller crusher, when it was brand new. It was a beast when it came out. I still remember spending all summer on it. There weren’t that many front assisted tractors around at that time. It was something special.

I'm serously impressed with the discs...that's breaking if up nicely...brings back memories drilling in maize (corn) in an open cab tractor....I like your farm...its not full of fancy new kit like alot of the others on here...!! You dont even have sat control on the tractor...😮...you got to actually drive in straight line...!!!😃..yep just get it done is what counts...like your style grayce..!!!😂 G

Grayce, The first year I farmed I didn't put the grain drill down on a pass across a 40 acre field. Had to go back and plant that pass when the Coors barley didn't come up... i caught heck from the neighbors.

Hey Grayce that was a awesome video I hate that the air went out on the other tractor 2 years ago the air went out on the 8340 Ford tractor i had to that fixed was not a small fix you did a good job it looks like you are a pro at that we have a 10 feet Ford disc got to do a little work to it have not done it yet we don’t use it much senses we don’t have tobacco any more i have to gas up the ac in the 6700 Ford sometime this week hope everything is going ok tell your dad don’t getting hot today and everybody I said hi 👋 hope they are doing good be careful and be safe Grayce and talk to you the next video I enjoyed seeing your dog running with you he enjoyed that talk to you soon again 🤟😎🚜🇺🇸

@G. Holman yeah Danny Anderson in pine island Minnesota has it It was at the plowday in Indiana in 2012. I took some video of it plowing. He said the two halves bolted right up just like it was supposed to be. He's going to be working on the 5588 soon I think. He may also be at the red power Next month in Ohio.

When I would disc, at the end of the field i would lift the disc so only the front blades were just skimming the ground, so it would drop easier and faster into the ground. It also puts less pressure on the axles or the tires.

Forgetting to set the disk down isn't so bad. I forget to set the drill down once or twice a year myself. A know a guy who's hired man one time let the valve leak back that folded the disk while disking at night. He disked waves into a 40 acre field that are still there today almost 30 years later. Trust me worse mistakes can be made. You and your dad have a safe and productive planting season. Take care Grayce.

I was wondering if that fire in the 5488 did some crazy damage to the electrical, that is no good. At least you have a more than adequate back up tractor. Oh and slow down a little and you will probably disc straighter lines 😜, just a suggestion btw.

I just love these people that say "oh its not a big deal not having AC in the cab". Spend 12hrs with that sun beating through the glass, or better yet, do it old fashioned style with a tractor with no cab. After a day of disking or seeding or plowing, and you're covered in dirt and dust...you'll be singing a different tune. It's also much louder.

@G. Holman exactly, except many farmers before AC was common in enclosed cabs, didn't even have canopies. A big old floppy hat and sturdy ear protection was the norm (if you were lucky you had ear protection that was basically an A/M radio.

If you don’t have an air condition, your much better off without a cab. I have no idea how hot it gets without ac in the cab,but it’s unbearable at times,down in south. Your sitting on a huge chunk of very hot metal,and the cab catches all that heat.

The 7140 is the best tractor ever made. I run new and old JD and CASE and the 7140 is bulletproof but low on HP.

Enjoying Your videos, and glad you were able to stay on to work the Family Farm. Grew up in a farming area where the summer jobs were on the seed corn, and back in the day tobacco farms. Classmates who grew up on farms, sad to see most of the Farms gone. Really wish the progressives didn't ruin our farming community with urban sprawl buying up all the land for "development". Great to see Farming has a future where you're at. BTW, Impressed how Kelso just climes right up to the cab like its second nature. 😀
